The Journeyman Electrician is a primary field employee in the Electrical division responsible for the precise and timely installation of electrical work, emphasizing safety and superior quality. Their duties include coordinating tasks, training colleagues, and staying current with industry codes and standards. In a leadership role, they set the work pace, provide a positive example, and demonstrate competence in various areas such as tool knowledge, blueprint reading, and branch wiring. With a focus on safety and professionalism, the Journeyman Electrician contributes to Kearney’s values and standards, showcasing autonomy and supervision skills while maintaining a high standard of excellence.
- Familiarity with NEC Code
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical blueprints and drawings
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems
- Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble and install electrical conduit, using such tools as band saw, pipe threaders, and conduit bender
- Install distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels, fastening in place with screws or bolts, using hand and power tools
- Connect power cables to equipment, such as transformers, switch gear and motors, and install grounding leads
