Skills
I have a real grasp of energy systems. Such as stored energy, static energy, mechanical energy, kinetic energy, electric energy, hydraulic/pneumatic energy, and magnetism as an energy source. Each of these have both unique and or shared characteristics. And each will perform differently in certain situations.
I am also very skilled in the different types of control systems whether they are solid state or programmable logic type control panels. Due to the different controls the steps for assessing correctly the cause of any problems and in that regard the process of troubleshooting and making repairs can be completely different, and should be respected. A good tip here is to develop yourself a detailed work flow chart for troubleshooting each different type of of system. I am skilled at working intelligently, efficiently, clean and successfully. Make sure that by following the work flowchart that you have lined out for each scenario you can determine the cause and solution to the breakdown. Highly skilled with hand tools, power tools, specialty tools, measuring tools. Skilled on all types of construction machinery and lifts. Be sure to get certified on as many different types of lifts and machinery on the job site, as this will increase your value on job sites as well as being able to borrow a lift vs. renting one. I am skilled in all phases of construction and have nccer certification in many aspects of the construction industry. I have full knowledge and proficiency with a electric meter for use in troubleshooting electrical problem or replacing certain components in the control panel or the operator. Also assessing a job to get a parts list and possibly putting together a estimate or bid and budget to keep the desired outcome for the customer in the front of your mind so as not to get caught up performing unnecessary tasks that will not get you to the desired result. Finally filling out an invoice, presenting it to the customer and collecting payment and closing out the job. I have many management skills such as scheduling, purchasing,
training, implementation of safety protocols and enforcement of these protocols. Hiring and interviewing job candidates. Education and training for technicians and Salesforce on any new products being offered by our company. This is truly an endless list.
I got aadm certification I think in 2004, maybe 2003 or 2005 at the BEA home office in Pittsburgh, PA. I got a 100 in the shortest time, I actually beat the instructors best time. I got my certification because I was responsible for removing, repainting, repairing, replacing any worn out parts, and reinstalling all Stanley automatic entry doors on every Best Buy electronics stores in the state of Florida that year.
About
I have been in the Material Handling and Commercial Door industry since 1991. I started out my career with Johnson Equipment Co. In Dallas Texas. Here I began as a warehouse and shipping clerk. Before I decided that I wanted to work out in the field, learning to install and service all types of material handling
equipment. Rite Hite was the brand of dock levelers and scissor lifts that we represented. With Rytec high speed doors, Overhead Door brand sectional doors, Windsor sectional doors, Cookson or Clopay rolling steel doors and grills. From there I went to work for Serco a United Dominion Company as a lead service technician. Serco in Dallas engineered as well as manufactured they own brand of dock equipment right in Dallas. Here I worked closely with some of the engineers and became one of they're go to technicians. I learned management skills as well as training skills during my time with Serco. After my time with Serco I went to work for Overhead Door Commercial of Dallas. Of course this is where I learned to install and service some very serious and extremely large commercial doors. Doors for train car repair shop as large as 40 by 20. I spent a few years honing my skills for these types of doors and operators as well as learning to control springs and stored energy while with Overhead Door Commercial of Dallas. After a few years here I took a job with Lonnie Colthern LLC. This is where I would learn Hytrol Conveyor systems along with vertical and carrousel storage systems. Here we traveled all over the nation installing and servicing conveyor systems, sort tables and down lines, vertical and carrousel storage systems for many major companies like IBM, Motorola, Texas Instruments, Academy Sports and Outdoors distribution center in Katy TX. Here we installed in the neighborhood of some 23 miles of conveyors with sort tables, down lines, and set them up with a parts inventory system and when we completed the installation of all the equipment they inquired about some training so I stayed behind and hired on with Academy Distribution Center conveyor department and trained the maintenance crews as well as the crews that would be using the equipment on a daily basis on the safe and efficient use, repair and where and what to watch out for to keep product from causing blockages and costly down time repairs. Once I got the teams trained on the new equipment I continued working there for a couple years until I could no longer stay in a warehouse, I had to get back to the open road with a service truck and constantly something different to fix or repair. At this point I took a job with Am/Pm Door Repair Services in Lakeland, FL. Here is where I will learn storefront doors and glazing. I worked for Charles King and am/pm for many years. I would relocate countless times from Texas, to Florida, to Maryland, and even California. I would go to new territories to work with a label crew until that territory began to produce enough business to hire and train a technician then on to the next city. I eventually bought my own vans and parts from Charles so I could get a larger percentage of the money and start some territories of my own. This has culminated into over thirty years of experience and knowledge. Every change was a opportunity to learn, grow and expand my horizons. Looking back it seems like I truly had an insatiable desire to learn all I could in this industry.
