About
Since I was hired on as a SR. Manager at Dallas College I estimate that my teams and I have saved the collage approximately 3 Million dollars in emergency and preventative HVAC costs.• I Provide strategic advice using multiple vendors to get the equipment necessary in a timely manner in order to keep the campuses operating with little to no down time.
• I Manage the HVAC division, and implement strategies to support the achievement of the organization's strategic and operational objectives: I implemented an evolving preventative maintenance schedule which consisted of all 7 campuses and the multiple remotes from each campus so that the preventative maintenance needs were met on a quarterly basis; which brought the previous maintenance schedule from a bi annual schedule to a quarterly schedule.
• I Execute and develop business plans with the expressed objective of building and increasing safety & operational excellence: I work with my vendors to purchase all necessary emergency HVAC needs plus quarterly HVAC needs not excluding PPE tools and Safety equipment that fall under OSHA Standards.
• I Motivate and mentor, direct reports, foster and develop leadership talent, and am actively involved with succession planning and talent development. I lead training sessions in and outside the college training as well as Identifying training opportunities in the field. I schedule motivational meetings with all 3 of my teams that include team participation and input from every member. I also initiate one on one conversations with each and every one of my team members to fulfill their needs in their current role and support their future goals.
• I communicate and relate well with people from all backgrounds and roles on a daily basis. I have A very diverse teams made up of all cultures and backgrounds and levels of experience.
• I consistently adhere to and promote the culture, values, and creed of Dallas College throughout my work week with excellent communication and leadership skills.
• I manage PAY ROLL for upwards of 13 employees soon to be approximately 36-40 employees, which includes their vacation time, sick time, & extenuating circumstances.
• I create timelines for HR collaborating with them regarding disciplinary actions CAP programs, write ups etc.
• I maintain our work order system, making sure comments are added and work orders are being addressed effectively and efficiently to ensure the campuses are being cared for in a timely manner.
• I accurately maintain a multi million dollar yearly budget, which includes multiple vendors, contractors, blankets, punch outs, and PO’s, while funneling all campus needs through my budget.
• I take care of all emergency HVAC Calls regardless of the time of day, what I’m doing, or where I’m at. I am the only employee at the college that has the knowledge and experience to fix and trouble shoot these machines.
• I designed a new MODEL that encompasses the ENTIRE HVAC DIVISION across all 7 campuses of Dallas College which will be implemented on September 1st. This includes redesigning how the relationship between tech II’s and tech III’s will work together along with my Emergency HVAC Team (consisting of tech III’s) to maximize optimal efficiency.
• I have taken on the role of a Construction Project Manager to ensure a project on DSC was done correctly, efficiently and safely, adhering to Dallas College policies and procedures. This project was an expansion tank change out involving piping, valves, and insulation, lasting multiple weeks. I had to be, and was, in constant contact with contractors and sub contractors to ensure the job was held at a Maximum level of Dallas College standards.
• I have Expert knowledge and Experience in commercial HVAC systems and methods including refrigeration, electrical, microprocessor control systems, plumbing water pressure and temperature; I interpret diagrams, drawings, and equipment manuals and perform combustion analysis. I have expert knowledge and experience in troubleshooting, time management, attention to detail, keeping accurate records of each project and each machine as well as safety protocol and standards, and computer literacy. My customer service skills are on point being able to explain over the phone and email what needs to be done and why, and providing step-by-step instructions If it’s not a call I get called out of the office or home for.
• My philosophy on working a job is not just diagnostics on the main problem at hand and fixing it, but also checking each and every component and trouble shooting every tiny detail to find out what caused the problem in the first place and fixing those as well so that the issue does not happen again. A call that I respond too is important to me and the job is never finished until absolutely everything has been checked, maintained and corrected so that the machine runs at the highest efficiency as possible.
