The Humane Society for Boone County is seeking a Facility & Maintenance Manager to oversee the daily maintenance and operations of our facility. This position will ensure the property is safe, operational, and in compliance with all necessary regulations. The Facility & Maintenance Manager will develop and implement a year-round maintenance plan, address repairs as needed and supervise maintenance volunteers or work teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive facility management plan to ensure safety, cleanliness, and proper functionality of the facility and property.

Ensure all facilities meet safety standards and are in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (including OSHA standards).

Respond promptly to repair needs, conducting or arranging repairs and maintenance services.

Supervise maintenance volunteers or teams to support facility upkeep.

Perform routine inspections to identify potential issues and prevent facility-related problems.

Coordinate with vendors or contractors for specialized repairs and services as needed.

Maintain records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance schedules.

Ensure proper handling and storage of tools, equipment, and supplies.

Work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, to address urgent or emergency needs.

Qualifications:

Experience in facility maintenance, building trades, or a similar role.

Solid understanding of electrical, mechanical, plumbing and HVAC systems.

Basic construction or craftsman skills.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Familiarity with OSHA standards and safety protocols.

Ability to supervise and direct volunteers or maintenance teams.

Physical ability to perform hands-on maintenance tasks, including lifting, moving equipment, and performing minor repairs.

Work Environment:

Flexible work hours (daytime or evening) with occasional weekend work for emergencies.

Position requires working both indoors and outdoors.

Must be physically able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.

Must have a reliable mode of transportation for purchasing materials as needed.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week

Monday to Friday
Weekends as needed
