In-Person Part-Time (20 hours per week) Position in Castro Valley, CA (Non-Exempt)

What qualifications are required for this position?

You Are Also:

Proven experience in facility maintenance or a similar role.
Basic knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general repair practices.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems efficiently.
Experienced in the repair and maintenance of residential and non-residential facilities, including carpentry, electrical systems, gardening, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
Sensitive to the needs of individuals who are victims of domestic violence and human trafficking.
Understanding and sensitive to serving a diverse population.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Flexibility to respond to urgent repair needs.
Good communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with staff and vendors.
In possession of a valid CA driver's license, proof of insurance, and be approved by Ruby's Place insurance as a driver in order to drive agency vehicles.
Able to complete all required background checks. Additional requirements may be deemed necessary, including fingerprinting (Live Scan), completion of all Community Care Licensing (CCL) documents, and ability to meet CCL licensing requirements.

What You Will Do

You will report to the Facilities Manager (FM). This position is a hands-on position overseeing the maintenance aspects of Ruby’s Place. In this role, you will assist the FM in the successful growth and sustainability of the agency by providing preventative maintenance, oversee maintenance projects throughout all of our facilities, and carry out maintenance requests in a timely and efficient manner.

Responsibilities include

Inspect and troubleshoot issues with building infrastructure, including lighting, security systems, and general building upkeep.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and ensure timely resolution of any issues.
Conduct regular inspections to identify potential problems and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Assist with small projects such as painting, furniture assembly, and general cleaning as needed.
Monitor inventory of maintenance supplies and notify management when reordering is necessary.
Coordinate with outside vendors for specialized repairs or services.
Maintain and log Preventative Maintenance Schedule and weekly inspection schedule of all RP’s facilities.
Repair and maintain heating, plumbing, and electrical systems in all facilities.(within limitations/experience/expertise)
Repair and maintain all appliances in all facilities.(within limitations/experience/expertise)
Oversee any outside vendors or contractors who are on site.
Maintain grounds of each facility including weed trimming, lawn mowing, brush removal, tree trimming, etc.
Assist with cleaning projects.
Complete emergency repairs when needed.
Assemble furniture or other structures as needed.
Assist with maintaining the video surveillance system, waste management, and other services by contacting companies in person and by phone.
Small painting projects of an office or room, repair and patch of drywall.
Purchasing maintenance and cleaning supplies when needed.
Maintaining fire extinguishers and functionality by monthly inspection. (schedule Exxell Fire)
Cleaning air ducts and ensuring systems are functional.
RV maintenance-
logging & changing propane tanks bi-weekly
ensuring vehicles are in good working order
ensuring waste tanks are working properly
Maintaining safety standards of chemical uses in the property and have knowledge of proper procedures
Complete functional timesheets by assigned due dates in compliance with time allocations.
Actively participate in reflective supervision sessions.
Create and maintain documentation of processes and procedures related to job duties.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

You are expected to be available on-site as necessary given business needs. You must be able to stand for long periods of time and perform physical activities, including lifting up to 50 pounds. You will be subject to frequent interruptions and must be able to multitask and handle stress.

Local travel in the greater Bay Area may be required.

The pay scale for the Facility Maintenance Technician PT is $26-$33/hour. The benefits that come with working at Ruby’s Place at part-time hours include immediate vesting in our 403(b) with a generous match. This is a part-time, 20 hours per week, hourly position. This is an in-person with some days required in our Castro Valley Office. Applicants must be located in the greater Bay Area.
