Facilities and Equipment Manager

The Mother’s Milk Bank at Austin (MMBA) is a nonprofit organization founded in

1999 to save the lives of fragile babies through the dispensing of prescribed

pasteurized donor milk. MMBA has many active programs supporting the mission

and functions as both a food manufacturing facility committed to food safety,

research, and innovation, and an administrative office where milk recipients,

volunteers, milk and financial donors, and community members interact.

This position, reporting to the Executive Director, has primary responsibility for managing

MMBA’s property and equipment — except for IT equipment — to ensure excellent functioning, safety, appearance, and compliance with US Food and Drug Administration, Human MilkBanking Association of North America, and State of Texas regulations. This manager maintains a safe, secure, sanitary, and attractive internal and external environment for staff, volunteers, and visitors and maintains equipment required for milk processing.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

Management of 5925 Dillard Circle

Assess building and grounds daily for any maintenance, safety, sanitation, or orderliness issues,keeping daily log of checkpoints, exceptions, action required, and action taken
Inspect building and grounds systems and equipment on a regular schedule and arrangefor repairs, service, maintenance, and replacement, as needed
Communicate with staff in all programs, addressing facility and equipment needs
Submit monthly report on buildings and grounds status, issues, and recommendations to Executive Director
In conjunction with Business Manager and Executive Director, prepare relative annual and project budgets and timeframes for facility

Management of Milk Processing Equipment

Create and maintain an equipment inventory, with manufacturers and serial numbers, planned maintenance schedule, required calibration schedule and outcomes, and a log of performance exceptions
Maintain equipment according to manufacturers’, FDA, and HMBANA standards
Develop, sustain, and comply with policies, procedures, and practices as needed to support MMBA’s vision, mission, and strategic plan
In conjunction with Business Manager and Executive Director, prepare relative annual and project budgets and timeframes for equipment acquisition, repair, service, and replacement

Misc

Serve as a visible resource at key events, such as appreciation events, open houses
Maintain appropriate certifications needed for the organization
Participate in staff meetings and education opportunities
Some evening or weekend work may be required

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required
Minimum of 5 years of experience in property and equipment management
Knowledge of JVAC and other building systems
Mechanical and plumbing skills
Strong time-management and multitasking skills
Good written and verbal communication abilities
Good problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 per week
