The Locate Team Manager oversees the activities of the team as they mark newly constructed conduit paths as well as document depths using state of the art equipment and software. This role also manages the team admins to ensure locate tickets are called in and documented efficiently. The Manager of the Locate Team is also responsible for monitoring communications with other locating companies and internally with Hyper's Construction Managers ensuring clear dig tickets to maintain forward production on a daily basis. The Locate Team Manager reports to the Manager of PMO.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff

Oversees the daily workflow of the department

Oversees Time and Attendance duties, e.g., approving timecards

Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations

Provides Management direction and counseling

Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Helps team troubleshoot utility lines including those ruled as “unlocatable” due to being dielectric or having broken tracer using sondes and/or GPR
-
Conducts scheduled job evaluations for individuals in the locating department to make sure they are staying safe, productive and improving in all areas necessary.

Works closely with Hyper Construction Managers & dispatches locators accordingly to identify areas of concern on our projects using maps & locating equipment

Prepares various reports, forms, and memos to document work completed, and problems encountered and/or resolved.

Verifies field information and notifies the designated City departments regarding updates and corrections.

Operates and maintains mechanical and electronic equipment

Works safely, follows safe work practices, and identifies and reports unsafe work conditions.

Manages the 811 polygon system to ensure all tickets received are relevant.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

Ability to pass pre-employment screenings (motor vehicle, drug, and background)

Must work safely and follow all OSHA, and other Federal, State, and local safety regulations and company safety rules and procedures

Can work independently with minimal supervision

Ability to communicate effectively with employees, contractors, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straightforward, and professional manner
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
-
High school diploma or equivalent.

Two or more years of previous experience in utility locating including: water, gas, telecommunications, power as well as the ability to read any and all prints to accurately mark utilities.

Ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with peers, superiors, other City departments, vendors, contractors, external government agencies and organizations.

Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing.

Valid driver’s license.
