JOB DESCRIPTION: We are seeking a skilled and reliable Commercial Plumber to join our team. This position involves performing both rough-in and finish plumbing work on various commercial construction projects, ensuring that all plumbing systems are installed according to blueprints, building codes, and project specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of commercial plumbing systems, be highly detail-oriented, and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities: Rough-In Plumbing (Pre-Finish Phase):
- Install Piping Systems: Lay out and install the main water and drainage pipes, including waste, vent, and supply lines, for commercial buildings (offices, restaurants, retail spaces, etc.) according to blueprints and specifications.
- Plumbing Trenching and Excavation: Perform trenching and excavation work to install underground pipes for waste, water, and gas systems.
- Pipe Routing and Supports: Ensure pipes are properly routed, supported, and secured throughout the building, including in walls, ceilings, and floors, following proper codes and regulations.
- Rough-In Pressure Testing: Conduct pressure tests on rough-in plumbing installations to ensure all connections are secure and leak-free before covering pipes.
- System Venting and Drainage: Install vent stacks, drainage systems, and tie-ins to municipal sewer lines, ensuring compliance with local plumbing codes.
Finish Plumbing (Post-Rough-In Phase):
- Fixture Installation: Install sinks, toilets, urinals, bathtubs, showers, faucets, and other plumbing fixtures in accordance with project specifications and client requirements.
- Pipe Fittings and Connections: Perform precise pipe fittings and connections for water and gas systems, ensuring that all fixtures and appliances function properly and are free of leaks.
- System Balancing and Adjustments: Balance water pressure and adjust systems to meet performance standards.
- Testing and Inspections: Test all finished plumbing systems to ensure they meet building codes, function properly, and comply with health and safety regulations.
- Troubleshooting and Repairs: Identify and resolve any plumbing issues that arise during the finish phase, including leaks, low water pressure, or malfunctioning fixtures.
General Responsibilities:
- Blueprint Reading: Interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine the proper layout, installation techniques, and necessary materials.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines and procedures on the job site to maintain a safe working environment and minimize risk to crew members and property.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other construction trades (electricians, HVAC technicians, general contractors) to ensure plumbing systems are integrated seamlessly with other building systems.
- Maintain Clean Work Area: Keep the work site clean, organized, and free of debris to ensure efficiency and safety.
- Material Handling: Order and track materials, ensuring that plumbing components are available as needed and that the correct materials are used for each specific phase of the project.
- Code Compliance: Ensure all plumbing installations adhere to local building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional service to clients and work with project managers to address any concerns or changes requested by the client.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of commercial plumbing experience (rough-in and finish work).
- Licenses/Certifications: OSHA
- Strong understanding of plumbing codes, installation procedures, and local regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) and work in physically demanding conditions.
- Comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, and in a variety of weather conditions.
- Tools and Equipment: Proficient in the use of plumbing tools and equipment, including pipe benders, cutters, threading machines, pressure testing equipment, and plumbing hand tools.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills to interact with clients, project managers, and team members.
