JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Energy Engineer will lead project teams of internal and external resources to deliver energy conservation projects. This position requires expert knowledge and skills in energy engineering solutions, with a comprehensive understanding of central plants, co-generation, lighting, HVAC, building automation, building envelope, and renewable energy systems in commercial buildings.
Brewer-Garrett is a US Federal Government contractor and is required to only hire US Citizens for this role. Only US Citizens will be considered.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate at a high level of accuracy and productivity associated with developing energy conservation projects, and self-direct project development activities
- Interface with internal mechanical and electrical engineers, project managers, estimators, energy auditors, proposal specialists, automation engineers, service specialists, and executive management
- Articulate and convey specific technical information to customers regarding their facilities and relevant improvement or efficiency opportunities
- Conduct field energy surveys of facilities; interact with customers and potential customers on surveys to obtain information and to develop and maintain productive working relationships
- Complete utility data analysis and interpret results for project and proposal development
- Work with the sales team in the development of field projects; support the sales team in the development and delivery of presentations
- Provide project details and requirements to the proposal team for the development of responses to RFP
- Complete reports and spreadsheets of solutions
- Work with project managers and estimators when developing project costs
- Build rapport and productive working relationships with internal team members, co-workers, executive leadership, customers, prospective customers, vendors, and other outside agents
- Develop savings calculations that are realistic and achievable; communicate to the audit lead the background of those calculations and work with the audit lead when calculations do not match expected results; continually refine energy calculations as necessary
- Act as audit lead or audit technical support as assigned
- Streamline work efforts to maximize productivity and accuracy
- Stay current with existing and future technologies
- Stay current with all pertinent certifications
- Provide support for any special projects assigned by the Energy Services Manager or Energy Engineering Manager
- Other duties as assigned within the scope of the Senior Energy Engineer role
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee, direct, and evaluate the work of assigned Energy Engineers. Responsible for hiring, training, and performance management of subordinates.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering
- Minimum five years of engineering experience; which includes knowledge of energy systems, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and sustainable practices for higher education, healthcare, government facilities, K-12 markets, and industrial manufacturing facilities
- Prior experience leading a team as a supervisor or team lead of a defined team and/or project
- E.M. certification and Professional Engineer status a plus
- Driver's license and reliable transportation
- Willingness to travel
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Strong technical knowledge of energy efficiency practices and programs
- Proficient user of Microsoft office suite and Adobe PDF; highly proficient in the use of Excel
- Strong communication skills (oral and written); must be able to effectively relay information to various audience groups, including, but not customers and perspective customers, managers, leadership, colleagues, and business associates; must be able to prepare professional written communications (emails, documents, etc.)
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to foster and maintain positive working relationships with individuals internal and external to the company and from various backgrounds

WORKING CONDITIONS
This job operates primarily in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
- Must be able to drive to and from business appointments and job sites
- Travel may include multiple nights and may include travel by car or commercial airplane
- Will be required to walk buildings and mechanical rooms, both interior and exterior at all times of the year
