Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Adjunct Instructor (Heating, Ventilation & Air and Conditioning) position in the Industrial & Transportation Technology department of the Academic & Student Affairs division. This position is located at Atlanta Tech's Main campus just south of Downtown Atlanta.
Under the general supervision of the Dean of Industrial & Transportation Technology division, the Adjunct Instructor (Heating, Ventilation & Air and Conditioning) position requires a passion, demonstrated by experience, for effective teaching and advisement of diverse students. The Adjunct Instructor (HVAC) provides professional instruction to students based on an approved course syllabus; and ensures that desired course outcomes meet the stated objectives, as well as prepares curriculum and syllabus for coursework taught. Compensation for this course is $2,000.00 per 3-credit hours course.
Duties and responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following:
- Teach HVAC classroom and lab courses, particularly in the Gas Technician Certificate program.
- Assist with syllabus and curriculum development as requested.
- Guide students in lab activities to include repair and installation of various types of HVAC units.
- Must possess two years paid work experience in the field of HVAC within the past five years.
- Work experience must include the competencies, skills and knowledge levels included in the HVAC instructional program.
- Occupational experience must meet the current requirements of the appropriate licensing board for the area of instruction.
- Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must maintain appropriate grading and assessment documentation in a confidential manner.
- Must submit grades and other reports in a timely manner.
- Must maintain regular and punctual work attendance.
- Perform additional duties, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must possess and demonstrate an Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited technical college, school or university AND the following:
- Two (2) years of paid work experience in the field of HVAC within the past five (5) years.
- Work experience including the competencies, skills and knowledge levels included in the HVAC instructional program.
- Occupational experience must meet the current requirements of the appropriate licensing board for the area of instruction.
- Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Note:Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum requirements, possess and demonstrate the following:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC).
- Three (3) or more years of work-related experience including the competencies, skills and knowledge levels included in the HVAC instructional program.
- State of Georgia HVAC License preferred.
- Ability to think quickly and independently.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
