JOB SUMMARY
The position purpose of a Marina General Manager (MGM) is to oversee the overall operations, financial performance, customer service, and strategic direction of a single marina location. The MGM ensures the marina operates efficiently and profitably while providing high-quality services to customers and maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations. This role requires strong leadership, operational expertise, and a customer-focused approach to drive the marina's success and growth.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Operational Management:
- Oversee daily operations of the marina, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning.
- Ensure high standards of service, maintenance, and cleanliness.
- Implement and enforce operational policies and procedures.
2. Financial Oversight:
- Develop and manage the marina’s budget, including forecasting and financial planning.
- Monitor financial performance, including revenue, expenses, and profitability.
- Prepare financial reports and present them to senior management.
3. Customer Service:
- Ensure exceptional customer service and satisfaction.
- Address customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
- Implement initiatives to enhance the customer experience and build loyalty.
4. Team Leadership:
- Recruit, train, and manage marina staff, including dockhands, maintenance personnel, and administrative staff.
- Foster a positive and productive work environment.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching and development opportunities.
- Support corporate team in the onboarding process of new Windward marinas as needed.
5. Facility Maintenance:
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of marina facilities, docks, and equipment.
- Support the management and execution of capital expenditure projects as needed.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Coordinate with contractors and service providers for specialized maintenance tasks.
6. Sales and Marketing:
- Coordinates with Marketing team to manage slip and service sales in accordance with brand standards.
- Coordinate with Marketing team to develop and implement sales and marketing strategies to attract new customers and retain existing ones.
- Promote marina services, including slip rentals, fuel sales, and other amenities.
- Build relationships with local businesses, boating communities, and industry organizations.
7. Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and safety standards.
- Maintain required permits and licenses for marina operations.
- Stay informed about changes in regulations that may impact the marina.
- Follow Windward safety and environmental rules and complete required related training
- Wear and promote the wearing of proper personal protective equipment as required for the task or work area.
- Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately.
8. Inventory and Supplies Management:
- Manage inventory of supplies, equipment, and fuel.
- Ensure timely ordering and replenishment of necessary items.
- Implement cost-effective purchasing practices.
9. Event Coordination:
- Plan and coordinate marina events, such as boat shows, fishing tournaments, and community gatherings.
- Work with local organizations and businesses to host and promote events.
- Ensure events run smoothly and provide a positive experience for participants.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marine Management, Hospitality, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience in marina management, hospitality management, or related fields.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
- Financial acumen and experience with budgeting and financial reporting.
- Knowledge of marina operations, boating, and marine maintenance.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
