Emergency Automotive Technologies is looking for Specialty Vehicle UpFitter to join our team. Our Upfitters install a wide variety of emergency vehicle equipment as needed by our customers in a wide variety of vehicle platforms for police, fire and public safety agencies
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This position will plan, and execute up-fitting of specialty emergency vehicles for law enforcement agencies, fire departments and other customers with a wide variety of equipment.
Job Responsibilities
- Install emergency and specialty vehicle equipment such as lighting, sirens, radios, push bumpers, partitions, weapon mounts, power inverters, HVAC systems, networking, communications, computers, video distribution, etc.
- Install aftermarket wiring throughout the vehicle that will provide the most efficient wiring path to enable future replacement and troubleshooting.
- Utilize connectors, terminals and fittings, cut or drill holes, and perform all tasks related to the modification of the vehicle for the preparation of the specialty equipment.
- Construct and fabricate parts, vehicle interiors, electrical systems
- Modify existing equipment and/or brackets to ensure proper fit & placement in vehicle.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with equipment as they arise.
- Document information, as needed, related to installation and repairs, to include but not limited to vehicle unit #, VIN, year, make, model, customer name, and description of work performed.
- Perform quality inspection of vehicle upon completion using EATI Vehicle Delivery Checklist.
- Disassemble and reassemble a diverse group of vehicles.
- Provide customer with a clean, neat, well-functioning and organized vehicle.
- Meet or exceed assigned production delivery deadlines.
- Maintain a clean working area.
- Conduct minor inventory control, and other duties as assigned.
- Attend all training sessions as assigned.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Required Education & Experience
- Minimum of High School Education or equivalent
- Knowledge of 12-24V DC and 120/240V AC electrical systems/components
- Proven track record of on time deliveries in current role
Preferred Education and Experience
- EVT and/or MECP Certification
- College/Vocational Technical degree in Automotive Electronics
- Two or more years of experience working with vehicle electronics
- Welding – MIG, TIG, and Spool Gun
- Ability to work with wood, metal, plastics, insulation and carpeting to create walls, ceilings, cabinets and other items as needed
- Insulation installation
- Wire management to include but not limited to documentation and labeling
- Previous RV experience and/or custom vehicle Interiors experience such as limo, party bus, command vehicles, campers, vans etc.
Position Requirements:
- Valid Driver’s license with good driving history.
- Successful background check.
- Ability to read and comprehend installation instructions.
- Ability to proficiently use a wide range of hand tools.
- Ability to follow specific directions; evaluate problems and prioritize tasks.
- Knowledge of, and ability to work with, vehicle electrical systems.
- On time attendance and consistent attendance
- Ability to lift 70+ pounds frequently.
- Good mechanical aptitude.
- Good communication skills.
- Self-Motivated/Self Starter
- Ability to keep making forward progress while managing unforeseen difficulties
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
