Job Title: General Manager – Convenience Store

Reports To: District Manager / Area Supervisor
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive General Manager to oversee the daily operations of our convenience store. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in retail management, with a focus on customer service, staff leadership, inventory management, and store profitability. The General Manager will ensure the store runs smoothly, meets financial goals, adheres to company policies, and delivers excellent service to customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Leadership: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the convenience store, ensuring efficient workflows, optimal product availability, and a positive customer experience.
- Staff Management: Lead, motivate, and manage a team of employees, including cashiers, stockers, and assistant managers. Responsible for hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
- Customer Service Excellence: Ensure customers receive outstanding service by maintaining store standards and resolving any customer concerns or complaints promptly.
- Inventory and Stock Management: Manage inventory levels, including ordering products, tracking stock movement, and ensuring that the store is always well-stocked. Conduct regular inventory audits to prevent loss or shrinkage.
- Financial Performance: Monitor store financials, including sales, expenses, and profitability. Achieve budgeted sales goals and implement strategies to maximize store revenue and minimize costs.
- Store Maintenance: Ensure the store is clean, well-organized, and complies with health and safety regulations. Oversee routine maintenance and repairs to keep the store in top condition.
- Sales and Marketing: Develop and implement local sales strategies, promotions, and marketing activities to increase store traffic and meet sales targets.
- Compliance and Loss Prevention: Ensure the store adheres to all company policies, local laws, and industry regulations. Implement and enforce loss prevention procedures to reduce theft and ensure a safe working environment.
- Reporting and Administration: Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on sales, inventory, staffing, and customer feedback for senior management. Handle administrative tasks such as payroll and budgeting.
- Shift Management: Oversee shift scheduling to ensure the store is adequately staffed at all times, especially during peak hours.
- Safety and Security: Ensure the store complies with all safety standards, including proper handling of hazardous materials, equipment safety, and emergency procedures.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree in business, management, or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a retail manager, store manager, or supervisor, preferably in a convenience store or similar retail environment.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets, sales targets, and inventory.
- Knowledge of retail operations, including inventory management, sales strategies, and loss prevention.
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with point-of-sale (POS) systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make quick decisions when necessary.
- Ability to lift and carry products (up to [specify weight, e.g., 30 lbs]) and stand for extended periods.
Working Conditions:
- This role is based in a fast-paced retail environment with varying shifts, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- The General Manager is expected to be on-site for most of their work schedule.
- Physical tasks include standing, walking, stocking shelves, and lifting inventory.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
