We are seeking a skilled Controls Field Service Technician to join our team. A Controls Field Service Technician is responsible for providing preventative maintenance, repair services, and commissioning support on Critical Infrastructure Electrical and Mechanical Building Monitoring systems. The Controls Field Service Technician is required to have a basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and components, as well as a fundamental understanding of the tools and processes required to complete Controls System maintenance and repair activities.
Responsibilities :
· Provide high-level technical service to all customers, including engineering support, assist with network topology planning and system controls design functionality.
· Provide customer support and work with the project engineers, other system engineers and end-users, to assist in developing cost effective methods for an efficient SCADA controls design and system solution.
· Work with essential/key team members to understand their systems requirements to ensure the correct IP infrastructure, points list, critical alarms, and scaling set points are integrated as designed.
· Work on construction sites, assisting the Building Automation team with mechanical and electrical building monitoring system deployments, validations of design and installation, PLC code development & deployment, ventilation, chiller plant alarming, monitoring of feedback associated with valves, fans and controls associated with BMS and EPMS (Electrical Power Monitoring Systems) system and integration.
· Assist in validating electrical monitoring systems (EPMS) sequences of operation and alarm points. Validate and provide Commissioning support for system testing and point to point verifications during the various levels of system commissioning.
· Implement QA procedures to ensure quality control is properly implemented throughout projects.
Requirements :
· Associate’s degree in engineering technology or in an engineering-related discipline or 1 to 3 years of field experience in Electrical, engineering, construction, or critical facilities operations/maintenance experience. Relevant military experience acceptable.
· Basic knowledge and experience with electrical testing equipment including multimeters or signal generators for the installation and troubleshooting of mechanical/electrical systems.
· Understand electrical and mechanical schematic diagrams, control diagrams, prints, MOP-building operations, understanding of electrical theory, chiller control circuits and Industrial automation systems.
· Must have excellent communication and collaboration skills, ability to work in a challenging environment, be organized, and have good problem-solving skills.
Preferred:
· 3 to 5 years of Field service experience – working with industrial instrumentation, onsite point to point controls validation and working knowledge with preferably any of the following programs/software: Rockwell Factory Talk; Tridium; Schneider Electric: Powerlogic/Struxureware; Siemens: Apogee; Ignition: Inductive Automation; Eaton Networks; Field Servers; Jace Controllers; Modbus RTU/TCP; Bacnet; Niagara.
· Experience in the mission critical sector is highly valued.
· Knowledge and experience with the Power User Level of Windows and the associated skillset.
· Knowledge of SCADA, BMS, and PLC systems and low voltage controls systems and how they operate within the BMS/EPMS umbrella.
· Knowledge/understanding of HMI system integration concepts and SCADA applications.
· Understand electrical and mechanical schematic diagrams, control diagrams, prints, MOP-building operations, understanding of electrical theory, chiller control circuits and Industrial HVAC systems.
· Working knowledge of PLC, DDC, HMI, Contactor, Relay, Drives and any electrical components related to mechanical and electrical system controls.
· Experience with industrial automation programming and building databases.
· Must have excellent communication and collaboration skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, be organized, and have good problem-solving skills
