JOB SUMMARY The Field Associate performs a variety of construction-related tasks supporting small construction projects by assisting with on-site activities, traveling to different job sites to assist with active projects; helps with labor, and materials; completes a full scope estimate of work that needs to be done such as mechanical, roofing, electrical, drywall repairs, and flooring for each of the properties; helps to maintain smooth operations and efficient project execution, performing repairs and installations efficiently and to a high standard of quality.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform tasks such as framing, drywall installation, painting, flooring, and electrical work.
- Install fixtures and equipment such as doors, windows, cabinets, and lighting.
- Prepare job sites for construction by clearing debris and setting up necessary equipment.
- Troubleshoot and fix issues related to plumbing, electrical systems, and carpentry.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment during and after projects.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to company safety policies.
- Interact with clients and customers professionally and courteously.
- Address customer inquiries and concerns promptly and effectively.
- Monitor inventory levels and report shortages or excesses.
- Keep stakeholders informed of project progress and any changes in plans.
- Report daily activities, issues, and challenges to the project manager.
- Participate in quality control inspections to ensure work meets project specifications and standards.
- Identify and report any defects, errors, or deviations from plans.
- Support waste management and recycling efforts on the construction site.
- Estimate materials needed for various projects and have materials on hand.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- High school diploma or equivalent, vocational training in construction or a related field is a plus.
- Relevant certifications in construction, plumbing, electrical work, or other trades are advantageous.
- Proven experience as a handyman or in a similar role within the construction industry, some carpentry experience is desirable.
- Strong knowledge of construction, repair, and maintenance techniques.
- Understanding of market prices, measuring windows, measuring square footage.
- Knowledge of life expectancy of water meter, gas meter, and roof.
- Knowledge of construction processes, materials, tools, and equipment.
- Knowledge of the care and safe usage of power tools.
- Ability to adhere to tight schedules and maintain work quality.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good physical stamina and dexterity.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS.
- Completing manual tasks requiring physical exertion, such as moving small items or assisting with site setup.
- Walking around the construction site, climb stairs or ladders, and navigating through various areas of the construction project.
- Standing, walking, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
- Lifting heavy materials and equipment.
- Communicating with clients, management, and other co-workers in person, by telephone, or vial email.
- Hearing and vision within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and prepare or inspect information.
WORK ENVIRONMENT The job is performed with a significant amount of time on construction sites, often outdoors with busy and noisy environments. Various weather conditions, such as extreme heat, cold, rain, or wind, depending on the location and season of the construction project. Some time is spent in a home office setting sitting for an extended period of time. Regular travel between different construction sites or between home office and construction sites with use of automobile.
