Established in 2007 to provide expert engineering, design assistance, and installation of prefabricated flue systems throughout the Mid-Atlantic, our expert team was on the leading edge of the market shift from Category III products to Category IV condensing boilers and appliances that require chimney liner installations.
Chimney Works supports our customers with exceptional installation services for factory-engineered systems to provide our customers with the most efficient and cost-effective solutions for boiler and hot water flues, grease duct, generator exhausts, and more.
Today, Chimney Works is expanding outside of the Mid-Atlantic area driving the need to hire for this role.
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and strategic General Manager who will also serve as the Product Line Champion for Chimney Works and to lead and grow Chimney Works beyond its existing footprint. In this role, you will be responsible for understanding, analyzing, and formalizing existing processes and procedures with a focus on creating a replicable model for expanding the business to new markets. We are also seeking your input for identifying additional capabilities and associated revenue streams for the product line offering. At the same time, you will be responsible for managing the existing Chimney Works businesses based in Crofton, MD, Dallas/Fort Worth, and Pittsburgh.
When the product line can be successfully replicated, as the Product Line Champion your role will include successfully delivering the product line knowledge base and implementing the installation product line in other markets. You will be supported by our newly created Portfolio Business Process Excellence team that will be responsible for creating and the delivery of training materials.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who has experience working in construction or a related industry, is an experienced business leader and is passionate about operational management and creating and training successful teams. You must be comfortable in a fast-paced environment, and able to evaluate and refine processes to ensure that the business is scalable and repeatable.

Key Responsibilities
Current Markets Operations Director
· Oversee operations, scheduling, customer coordination, and internal cross team communications
· Provide leadership and support for superintendents, foreman, and installers
· P&L responsibility for Chimney Works across the portfolio
· Coordinate installation resources for Texas and Pittsburgh expansion
· Delegate and elevate from this role when appropriate.
Product Line Business Process Development
· Serve as the Installation Product Line Champion for the portfolio.
· Mentor and manage a team of professionals across various lanes and locations, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
· Conduct a comprehensive analysis of existing sales and operational processes and procedures.
· Work closely with sales, project management, estimating, operations/installation, and the management services teams to document workflows, identify inefficiencies, and implement improvements.
· Develop and formalize standardized processes and procedures to ensure consistency, quality, and efficiency across the product line.
· Perform periodic improvement focused reviews of all product line processes and procedures, update processes and procedures as needed, and ensure that the updated processes and procedures are followed across the portfolio.
· Establish KPIs and monitor operational performance to ensure quality and efficiency standards are met.
· Collaborate with the Portfolio Business Process Excellence team design a training curriculum, training content, and training delivery plan that can be applied to all new team members and new markets for a smooth scaling process.
· Identify and address team training needs to support scalability and maintain high-quality standards.
Market Expansion
· Work closely with our market expansion cross functional team to create a growth plan and achieve the company’s expansion goals.
· Lead the launch of new locations, including supporting the new market in the early stages with a launch team using resources from other markets, and managing logistics, hiring, and training local teams to ensure a successful rollout.
Requirements:
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, construction management, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
· Minimum of 8 years of experience in operations management, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role in construction, manufacturing, or related industries.
· Proven experience in business development and expansion, preferably within construction or installation services.
· Strong knowledge of process optimization and the ability to document and standardize workflows.
· Proficiency in financial planning, budgeting, and operational analytics.
· Excellent leadership and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to build strong teams and client relationships.
· Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong ability to identify and capitalize on business opportunities.
