**Overview**
We are seeking an HVAC Apprentice Technician to join our team. As a vital member of our maintenance and installation team, you will be responsible for assisting in installing, repairing, and maintaining heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems for residential and commercial properties. This role requires a strong commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
**Responsibilities:**
- Assisting with installations: Helping to install new HVAC equipment like furnaces, air conditioners, and ductwork, following instructions from journeyman technicians.
- Basic maintenance tasks: Cleaning air filters, checking refrigerant levels, inspecting system components for potential issues, and performing basic cleaning of ducts.
- Learning troubleshooting techniques: Observing experienced technicians as they diagnose system malfunctions and identify faulty components.
- Performing minor repairs: Replacing worn parts, fixing minor leaks, and making adjustments to system settings under supervision.
- Reading blueprints and schematics :Learning to interpret HVAC system layouts and wiring diagrams.
- Operating hand and power tools: Properly using tools like drills, wrenches, screwdrivers, and other HVAC specific tools.
- Following safety protocols: Adhering to safety procedures related to working with electricity, refrigerants, and confined spaces.
- Maintaining accurate records: Keeping detailed logs of work performed, parts used, and customer information.
- Attending training classes: Participating in formal apprenticeship programs to gain theoretical knowledge of HVAC systems and industry standards.
Required skills and qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic mechanical aptitude and hand-eye coordination
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects and work in tight spaces
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Important points to consider:
- Apprenticeship duration: HVAC apprenticeships typically last several years, with increasing responsibility and skill level as the apprentice progresses.
- Supervision required :Throughout the apprenticeship, the technician will work under the close supervision of a licensed HVAC technician.
- Certification potential: Upon completion of the apprenticeship and required training, the apprentice can sit for a licensing exam to become a certified HVAC technician.
