JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for inspecting and providing necessary service and repair to residential heating and air conditioning systems. Troubleshoot and resolve warranty service issues for customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct daily field visits to jobsites in service area as scheduled by Service/ Warranty Manager and work with dispatch to ensure schedule is maintained and delays are properly communicated to customer.
- Maintain and repair heating, ventilation, and cooling units for both commercial and residential customers. Work on both basic and more advanced maintenance and repairs.
- Inspect systems to accurately diagnose and repair electronic, mechanical and electrical components of these systems as necessary.
- Communicate with customers to help troubleshoot system malfunctions or problems. Tactfully explain issues to customers.
- Diagnose diverse warranty service issues, obtain any replacement parts, calibrate system to manufacturer’s recommendations, and explain fully to customer what the issue is and what is required to correct.
- Work with Manager, Estimating and Install to resolve design issues and HERS testing issues.
- Properly document all inspections, repairs, and installed equipment upon arrival, including make, model, serial number, type of fuel, necessary test measurements, and pictures as necessary.
- Identify and report to owner potential opportunities for additional business (newer
system, service contracts, and additional services).
- Clean, maintain, and replenish proper stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment in the vehicle as necessary.
- Train new HVAC Service staff. Ensure new staff is trained on service area, processes and procedures and that van is fully equipped for new employee.
- Responsible for obtaining basic car maintenance, i.e. oil changes, car washes, etc.
- Perform all other special duties or projects as assigned by Service/Warranty Manager.
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent; HVAC Technician school certification highly preferred.
- Must possess 3-4 years minimum prior experience with HVAC systems and/or HVAC equipment maintenance/ installation.
- Must possess EPA 608 Certification for refrigerant handling. Must be able to read and understand plans and Title 24 criteria.
- Requires regular travel to and from scheduled jobsites in assigned region.
- Must possess a valid California driver’s license and be insurable as a driver under the corporate insurance policy.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English in both verbal and written formats.
- Must be computer literate. Some Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) experience required.
- Must possess ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans and manuals.
- Must possess strong time management, problem solving, and customer service capabilities.
- Must possess good analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Must be reliable, trustworthy, and capable of working long periods of time independently, with little to no supervision.
- Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to interface with customers and other employees in a courteous and professional manner.
- Must possess mental and physical capacities necessary to perform the job duties.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Physical stamina: HVAC Installer/ technicians may work extended amount of hours walking, standing, and may need to be physically active without getting tired.
Bending & Crawling: HVAC Installer/ technicians may work extended amount of hours kneeling, crawling, or climbing ladders.
Lifting: HVAC Installer/ technicians may need to lift large parts and objects, and should be properly trained to safely do so. They should also be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
Working in extreme conditions: HVAC Installer/ technicians may need to work in settings with extreme cold or extreme heat, depending on the time of year.

The base pay range for this position is $27.00-$32.00
