Service Technician

Service Technicians must have a well-rounded knowledge in electrical work and perform work on electrical equipment and in factories, businesses, and buildings, both existing and under construction, to install, repair, and maintain power, lighting, communications, and control systems.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Read blueprints and technical diagrams to determine the placement/location of outlets and fixtures.
- Assess hardware and installation functionality and prepare reports about maintenance and repair work performed.
- Identify electrical problems using specialized tools like voltmeters, cable testers, thermal scanners, and ammeters.
- Install new hardware and complex products, such as wiring, outlets, and controls, while ensuring that they work correctly and safely.
- Repair and replace wiring and equipment using hand and power tools such as screwdrivers, saws, drills, wire strippers, and conduit breakers.
- Maintenance of electrical systems.
- Inspect transformers and circuit breakers to ensure they are up to code.
- Follow state and local building regulations.
o Must have and maintain a current electrical license.
- Educate the hardware users about the correct use and upkeep of their products.
- Persuade customers to invest in necessary replacements or vital repairs to key components and hardware devices in their best interest.
- Handle customer relations in a professional and friendly manner.
o Maintain a professional appearance.
o Use appropriate language.
o Explain complex installation, diagnostic and repair issues in a way that’s accessible to a nontechnical audience.
- Work effectively and efficiently, ensuring a full understanding of the expectations for the service call.
- Communicate with the Service Manager
o When issues arise.
o When changes need to be made to the plan.
o When assistance is needed with the service call.
o When you have completed the jobs for the day with hours left to work.
- Maintain the company van assigned.
o Take the vehicle for scheduled service.
o Inspect the vehicle daily for damage or safety issues.
o Maintain the appropriate inventory for your vehicle.
o Ensure the vehicle is clean, inside and out, and represents the Scott-Del Electric brand in a positive manner.
o Drive the van responsibly, ensuring that the Scott-Del Electric brand is represented in a positive manner.
o Must maintain a current driver’s license.
- Complete all reporting on time, in full. (OTIF)
o Turn in all service reports for each job no later than the next business day after completion.
o Labor and materials lists must be accurate.
o Turn in all receipts for each job no later than the next business day after completion.
- Have reliable transportation and show up to work ready to start on time.
- Other duties as assigned by the Service Manager.
Qualifications
- Must possess and maintain an electrician license.
- Must possess and maintain a valid U.S Driver’s license.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must pass a criminal background check
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring.
- Must be able to withstand prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders or scaffolding.
- Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Schedule and Work Environment
- Scott-Del Electric Service Technicians typically work Monday-Friday from 7am to 3:30pm, but may from time to time be required to work overtime and/or Saturdays.
- Scott-Del Electric Service Technicians work indoors and outdoors at businesses, factories, and construction sites.
