Position Summary:
The EHS & Facilities Manager will work to prevent workplace accidents and promote health and safety awareness and education to team members. This includes overseeing the efficient and safe operation of the company’s physical assets and infrastructure which includes ensuring that the facilities environment is conducive to the smooth functioning of the business. They will establish and maintain the health and safety of the plant workforce by monitoring and evaluating health and safety conditions; assuring training and compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and governmental standards; and Safety Programs for the facility. The EHS & Facilities Manager will be responsible for overseeing the efficient and safe operation of the company’s physical assets and infrastructure which includes ensuring that the facilities environment is reliable and conducive to the smooth functioning of the business. The EHS & Facilities Manager will be responsible for the environmental footprint of the company by ensuring compliance with environmental regulations including but not limited to air permitting and compliance, storm water permitting and compliance, waste water permitting and compliance and environmental sustainability initiatives.
Requirements:
The EHS & Facilities Manager will have several Roles and Responsibilities including, but not limited to the following:
- Developing and implementing a proactive maintenance plan to ensure the ongoing operational efficiency of the facilities and related equipment. This includes overseeing repairs, upgrades and replacement when necessary.
- Accomplishes and improves safety of the workplace by coordinating, administering, and implementing comprehensive and proactive training programs in occupational, industrial, and environmental safety.
- Overseeing the security of the company’s employees and facilities.
- Perform rigorous root cause analyses of reported accidents and near misses to evaluate current best practices, recommend changes where necessary, and create and implement corrective actions.
- Ensuring managers and supervisors have the appropriate safety and health; accident prevention; and investigation training.
- Conducts EH&S audits and inspections to determine compliance with regulatory requirements and beset practices and implement control measures to eliminate non-conformances.
- Partner with HR to establish and maintain complete safety and training records.
- Develop, update, and manage workplace safety programs, procedures, and policies.
- Responsible for the maintenance and tracking of safety and accident reports and resulting corrective action plans.
- Develop and lead the cross-functional company safety team.
- Plans, implements, and conducts preventative care, safety, and compliance training programs.
- Plans, implements, manages, and maintains written EH&S procedures to achieve regulatory compliance requirements including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
- Provides management team with guidance and leadership on EH&S systems and confirms plant meets or exceeds industry, local, state, and federal guidelines, and regulations.
- Collaborates with management to develop an Emergency Action Plan and serve as primary contact for facility injury and incident notification, investigation, and case management. Maintains a written log of safety inspection activities, reports, and correspondence.
- Assesses engineering controls, administrative controls, and PPE required for EH&S compliance on an on-going basis.
- Conducts post-accident investigation and prepares reports identifying contributing hazards and corrective actions for use by company personnel and senior management.
- Develops all training materials that meet OSHA standards for all applicable hazards. Partners with HR to track employee participation.
- Manages EH&S regulatory compliance by staying up to date with relevant building codes, EH&S regulations, and industry standards and developing and executing systems to ensure compliance.
- Administers EH&S training programs within the facility.
- Partners with the Maintenance Supervisor to develop budgets and cost controls that include preparing and managing the facilities budget, tracking expenses, and finding cost-effective solutions to optimize operational expenses.
- Vendor Management which includes identifying and engaging with external service providers and contractors for maintenance, repairs, and facility-related services. Work with the Maintenance Supervisor in negotiating contracts and monitoring their performance.
- Partner with maintenance and operations to analyze space usage and plan for optimal utilization of the facilities space, including workplace layout, machine placement, product flow and future expansion needs.
- Overseeing the implementation of security measures to protect the facility, its assets, and its occupants.
- Collaborating with various departments and stakeholders to understand their facility-related needs and providing timely updates on facility-related matters.
- Working with Maintenance team in maintaining records of the facilities assets, equipment, and systems, and planning for their lifecycle replacement and upgrades.
- Identifying areas for improvement within the facilities operations and implementing strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Plan, source vendors and oversee work related to facilities projects including but not limited to roofing, electrical system, plumbing systems, fire suppression systems, security systems, etc.
- Be the company contact person for all EH&S regulatory agencies including OSHA, municipal agencies, etc.
- Must perform all work in accordance with safety procedures

Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Safety, Health, Environmental, Ergonomics or related field or 2+ years of experience in Safety and/or Environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations.
- Detailed understanding of EHS regulatory requirements.
- Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of safety rules and regulations at all levels of government, including federal, state and local.
- Advanced mechanical skills and knowledge of plumbing, HVAC and other building systems.
- Proficiency with repair tools and techniques.
- Familiar with a variety of manufacturing concepts, practices and procedures.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
- Ability to conduct Risk Assessments
- Administrative policies and procedures.
- Familiarity with department budget process and tools.
- Knowledge of project controls.
- Conflict management and problem-solving skills.
- Multi-tasking ability.
- Communication, meeting, and presentation skills.
Desired Qualification and Attributes:
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish a plus.
- Current related certifications in First Aid, CPR, OSHA etc. highly desirable
- Hands-on, high-energy individual with an eagerness to learn and excel, and the capability to engage others in training to raise awareness and safety compliance.
- Tolerance for ambiguity and the resilience to handle stressful situations

- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, squat, climb, and navigate in closed manufacturing spaces on occasion
- Ability to safely lift and move objects up to twenty-five (25) lbs. over short distances
