Location: Sugar Land, Texas
Position overview:
The Electrician works closely with the Plant Electrical Engineer and performs a variety of electrical trade functions in the installation, maintenance, repair and/or distribution of electrical energy. Installs, maintains, and replaces electronic programmable controllers for the use in the manufacture of aluminum cans.
Minimum Requirements
- Ability to troubleshoot problems, identify root causes (e.g. six sigma analysis) and propose and implement remedies.
- Ability to work off shifts (afternoons and midnights) and overtime, as necessary. Must be able to work in varying temperatures and climates
- Must have the ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds on occasion and regularly stand, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. This position may also require climbing or balancing.
- Effective and proven communication skills (both written and verbal) working in a team environment.
- Proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects/tasks at the same time.
- Effective record keeping skills and the ability to focus on details.
Preferred Requirements
- AS Electrical Engineering preferred, but not required.
- Journeyman license preferred but not required
- Minimum 3+ year’s industrial electrical/programming experience or two-year technical degree strongly preferred.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment with people of varying skills and backgrounds.
- Highly motivated, self-directed, worker that can work autonomously in a fast paced and often loud production environment.
- Knowledge of safety policies and procedures is required (e.g. lockout / tagout, low voltage electrical to 480V AC).
- PLC programming required; Multiple platforms such as Allen Bradley PLC5, Control Logix, HMI, and Servo Drive programming and troubleshooting experience preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems, identify root causes (e.g. six sigma analysis) and propose and implement remedies.
- Strong computer skills required; Microsoft Office proficiency as well as Computerized Maintenance Management Systems experience preferred.
- Experience in computer networking (routers, Ethernet, switches, etc.) preferred.
- Mechanical troubleshooting experience in high speed packaging and/or highly automated continuous process environment preferred.
- Ability to work off shifts (afternoons and midnights) and overtime, as necessary. Must be able to work in varying temperatures and climates
- Ability to listen, follow directions and communicate effectively
- Ability to manage time and work independently or with other team members
- Ability to assume additional job duties and responsibilities as assigned
- Must have working knowledge of current electrical codes
- Knowledge of all electrical systems and components
- Knowledge of National Electric Code
- 480 V MCC troubleshooting
- Ability to perform calibrations, installation and maintenance of process and analytical instrumentation.
- Ability to troubleshoot and re-wire high speed and/or highly automated equipment such as AC/DC motors, VFDs, PLCs, servo motors, and PLC I/O modules.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
- Medium voltage load centers and metal clad operation and troubleshooting up to 38 KV
- Understanding and use of current NFPA electrical codes
Working Conditions
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic
- The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures
- The noise level is frequently loud
