Field Supervisor Job Description Position Title: Field Supervisor
Reports to: Plumbing Department Manager
Pay Classification: Non-Exempt
Pay Type: Hourly
Summary Assists plumbers with unusual or difficult assignments, trains and coaches Journeyman plumbers, ensures that safety rules and practices are followed, and conducts quality-control checks on completed work. As needed due to staffing and customer needs, performs service, maintenance, and installation work.
Duties and Responsibilities Requirements and Qualifications
- Manage project mechanics and hold regular meetings to ensure efficient field operations.
- Schedule manpower, including future needs, and maintain a 3-week look ahead.
- Enforce discipline and control among field personnel to optimize production efficiency.
- Create materials lists for the project.
- Coordinate work with other trades on the project.
- Perform quality control measures and testing to ensure proper installation and functioning of systems.
- Enforce jobsite safety requirements for all team members.
- Monitor project schedule to meet completion deadlines.
- Notify the project manager of any additional work that arises during the project and assist in estimating the associated costs.
- Attend progress meetings as required.
- Maintain project paperwork, such as daily reports.
- Manage and mentor team members to maintain a neat and organized workplace.
- Prepare and supervise the project punch list to facilitate timely completion.
- Ensure projects are completed to satisfaction through a final walk-thru with the client.
- Attend and participate in monthly forecast meetings.
- Enter daily time records for all personnel on the project.
- Track quantities installed each day.
Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Valid driver’s license
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a project foreman.
- Must have 1 to 3 years of related experience or additional specialized training and/or certification.
- Strong knowledge of blueprints and project specifications.
- Reliable, detailed oriented, highly organized, and capable of handling several tasks.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work after hours, over weekends, and on public holidays with short or no notice.
- Manual dexterity
- Must be insurable.
