Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in automotive repair and maintenance, possess strong diagnostic abilities, and be proficient in various mechanical systems.
Primary Objective:
- This position requires the advanced technical knowledge and skills to perform corrective and preventative maintenance on all MTA vehicles, equipment, buildings, properties, and grounds.
- Particular attention will be given to a systematic and timely approach to performing quality repairs and maintenance.
- Repair standards require minimized come-backs.
- Particular attention will be to use of only necessary parts for quality repair.
- Technicians must be familiar with and follow Maintenance Manual policies, procedures and standards while performing duties.
- The technician will work closely with the Supervisor to assist in system analysis and policy implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform vehicle preventive maintenance to meet MTA standards.
- Diagnose vehicle defects and select a course of action for quality repairs.
- Repair all aspects of vehicle engine, transmission; drive line, electrical, HVAC, etc.
- Repair vehicles at a minimum cost without sacrificing quality of repair.
- Ensure vehicles meet safety requirements in compliance with N.H. laws.
- Perform road calls as requested.
- Reassemble, clean and reinstall components as assigned.
- Follow specific directions given verbally or written.
- Maintain a safe, clean, “team” oriented environment.
- Assist in all repair functions as requested.
- Maintain a professional appearance.
- Properly use the Transit Fleet Maintenance Information System.
- Properly fills in appropriate information on work orders.
- Communicate professionally with supervisor and other technicians.
- Use safely power and hand-held mechanics tools.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- The technician will be expected to perform his/her complete range of duties without regular assistance or guidance from supervisory personnel and will be called upon to offer assistance and guidance to other maintenance staff.
- The technician will, at times, be expected to be self supervised and as his/her seniority and or skill level dictates, pass down information as directed by the supervisor or technician in charge.
- The technician will be expected to engage in regular self assessment and improvement for the purpose of aspiring to a leadership position
- The supervisor will inspect all jobs before work is performed and also at the completion of work performed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.85 - $33.22 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Experience:
- Diesel engine repair: 1 year (Preferred)
- Mechanical knowledge: 1 year (Preferred)
