About the Role:
Ensures smooth and efficient operation of the HVAC systems, keeping the RDU Airport Authority facilities running like a well-tuned aircraft. This role navigates through a variety of maintenance challenges, much like a skilled pilot adapting to changing conditions, ensuring the safe and reliable function of our public facility. Additionally, the Senior Maintenance Mechanic plays a crucial role in weather-related operations, such as snow removal or hurricane preparedness, ensuring our 24/7 operation remains airborne without turbulence.

What You’ll Do:
Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains:
- Direct expansion air conditioning units
- A variety of pumps associated with HVAC, from 1 hp to 100 hp throughout the airport
- The airport's AHUs and ventilation systems
- Boilers and hot water system
- Chillers and chilled water system
- Cooling towers
- Variable frequency drives
- Monitors and operates all RDU Building Management Systems
- Maintains and assists with HVAC water treatment.

- High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred:
- Associate degree or Apprentice Program
Experience:
Required:
- 5 years of experience in directly related trade.
Preferred:
- 7 years of experience in directly related trade.
Licenses or Certifications:
Required:
- Valid NC Driver’s License and ability to obtain NC CDL License within 6 months of start date.
Preferred:
HVAC
- Valid NC State Heating Contractor License - H1 and H3 license. Release of NC Contractor Heating Group (H1), (H2), & (H3) to RDU within 90 days of start date OR obtain NC State and Local Government H1, (H2) and H3 and to RDU within 90 days of start date.
