Solar Master Electrician/Construction Manager 09.06.2024
Location: Minneapolis, MN
Compensation: Base salary of $120,000-150,000 depending on level of experience, plus expenses, benefits and incentives paid based on performance that may include an equity position within the company.
Qualifications:
1. Valid Master Electrician license in Minnesota.
2. Proven experience in the design, installation and interconnection of commercial and institutional solar energy systems, primarily rooftops, ranging from 40 to 1,000 kilowatts-dc.
3. Knowledge of performance diagnostics, system testing, safety protocols and local code compliance.
4. Knowledge of solar-related technologies such as solar canopies, battery storage, electric vehicle charging and other building electrification strategies.

Job Overview: As Renewable Energy continues to expand our operations, Renewable Energy Partners is looking to build out its own construction and installation crews. The master electrician position will be leading the development and deployment of REP crews and serve as the Master of Record on a variety of renewable energy projects. The master electrician will also work with other installation and interconnection contractors to complete solar energy projects that are being developed by REP. The master electrician will play a crucial role in the planning, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all solar energy systems, and advise on the procurement of solar equipment. The master electrician will report directly to REP’s CEO and Director of Operations to ensure the safe and efficient installation of solar, EV charging, and battery storage projects.
SPECIFIC TASKS
I. Project Development
1. Review electrical engineering designs and solar layouts, including solar-related systems.
2. Conduct site visits and evaluations of project sites to assess roof and site conditions, electrical service and equipment, and to draft a construction plan for solar projects.
3. Advise the project management team on project equipment lists and procurement process based on electrical designs and site requirements.
4. Assist project management team, as needed, with assembling bids and RFP responses.
5. Work with electrical engineering and project management teams to ensure seamless project execution.
II. Installation and Construction Management
1. Work with project manager to create a coordinated project schedule and installation plan.
2. Provide on-site oversight of the installation of commercial solar energy systems, and related technologies to ensure high-quality workmanship and compliance with local codes, industry standards and safety protocols.
3. Serve as the point of contact for crews in the field and contracted installers as needed and across multiple sites to answer questions and resolve issues during installation and interconnection.
4. Oversee crew mobilization and logistics, on-boarding of new crew members and the provision of life and safety gear at the job site.
5. Oversee all aspects of set-up and installation work: conduit and wiring, panels and racking, inverters, grounding, switchgear and buss bar terminations.
6. Maintain accurate records of installations, subcontractors, inspections, and interconnection activities.
7. Provide guidance and training to junior electricians and installation crew members to enhance overall skill levels, proper procedures and safety practices.
III. Project Maintenance and Troubleshooting
1. Manage performance diagnostics, skilled repair scheduling, and troubleshooting to develop effective solutions for performance issues.
2. Oversee interconnection, commissioning and site electrical system testing procedures to achieve timely approvals for commercial operation.
3. Develop and manage protocols for ongoing operations and maintenance of systems, either directly with REP staff or with contracted O & M service providers
