Growing manufacturer has an immediate opening for motivated Maintenance Mechanic and Electrician in the Richmond, Virginia area. Able to work any shift. This role will also comprise of some production supervisor activities.
SUMMARY
- Maintain production efficiency and quality by ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of production machinery.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with preventative maintenance programs. Improve the reliability of the equipment
- Diagnosing faults. Identifies and captures opportunities for improvement in equipment maintainability and reliability. Analysis of repetitive equipment failures.
- Coordinating with operations and other departments for feedback on the functionality of machinery and equipment.
- Ensure operation of machinery and equipment by completing unscheduled repairs during production and preventive maintenance requirements.
- Managing budgets. Estimation of maintenance costs and evaluation of alternatives
- Developing maintenance procedures.
- Promotes equipment standardization.
- Electronics Troubleshooting and Repair: AC (Allen Bradley and Siemens) and DC Drives; PLC Troubleshooting.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts using lean manufacturing principles
- Utilizes ERP system to manage and control maintenance supplies, parts inventory and other expenses.
- Work with vendors to source parts and to substitute OEM parts with more economical options, designing and testing improved parts, updating older electronics that are no longer supported by manufacturers to improve equipment functionality.
- Assist capital projects including identifying scope, cost, milestones, etc.
- Provide leadership, coaching and direction to shift technicians in all aspects of their work.
- Maintains safe, clean and organized working environment by complying with policies and procedures.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Fundamental mechanical, electrical and pneumatic knowledge which includes knowledge of tools and materials.
- Capable of reading and interpreting equipment manuals, mechanical and electrical.
- Team player, dependable, flexible and self managed
- Ability to exercise independent judgment.
- Ability to identify technical defects in equipment (electrical/mechanical)
- Ability to identify and implement efficient paths of action to finish the assigned work.
- Good communication and organization skills.
- Ability to effectively manage time, meet deadlines and coordinate work functions with fellow workers.
- A record of success in implementing lean manufacturing concepts for continuous improvement.
- Computer proficiency including MS Office, and ERP system.
- Ability to calibrate, test and repair electronic control systems.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work any shift
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 2 year Technical/mechanical/electrical Degree and/or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of experience in production maintenance.
- Journeyman Maintenance Mechanic Preferred.
