Job Summary
Performs leakage inspections on all distribution facilities

Assists with the operation and maintenance of distribution facilities such as main lines and services
Essential Functions
- Performs miscellaneous duties relative to plant operations
- Operates line locator to locate and mark pipelines and curb boxes
- Performs minor maintenance on tools and equipment
- Performs general maintenance duties, such as painting, mowing and cleaning, as needed.
- Responds to various types of customer/company work requests including but not limited to transfers, disconnects, reads/rereads, locates/repairs curb boxes, removes active and inactive meters, collects on delinquent accounts or disconnects gas service at meter or curb box, reads meters on route.
- Work includes installing or assists in the installation, repair, and replacement of distribution facilities such as mains, services, regulators, and structures.
- Must be available for overtime, emergency, and call-out work.
- Appropriate class of Virginia driver's license and CDL is required.
- Employee will be required to pass the Operator Qualifications.
- Must have strong decision making and problem-solving skills.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to write legibly in order to make clear and concise reports and sketchers.
- Must be able to accurately interpret maps in order to prepare and update leakage maps.
- Must be able to use probe bar, carry thirty-five (35) pound leak detector for long periods of time, complete sustained walking assignments, negotiate a variety of terrains and building structures, and work outside in all weather conditions.
- Required Qualifications For Position
- High School Diploma Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- less than 1 year 12 months experience in gas operations or equivalent work experience.
- Must have demonstrated computer experience.
- Must have a mechanical aptitude and working knowledge/experience in the use of hand tools.
- Must be able to perform basic arithmetic calculations.
- Must be able to read and interpret highway prints and company inventory maps.
- Must be able to document records, understand oral and written communications and prepare legible orders.
- Must be self-motivated and able to complete assignments with little or no direct supervision. Requires ability to organize and prioritize duties
- Must have strong oral and interpersonal skills, as demonstrated by successful interactions with others where tact and diplomacy are needed.
- Must have a safe work & driving record to operate company vehicles.
- DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State Must have the ability to obtain a valid Virginia Operator and Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and certification to operate company trucks under the DOT/Virginia Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.

Salary Range:
$33.85 - $47.36
