Our Resort is recently under new ownership and is looking for a General Manager willing to bring energy and passion as he/she plays a crucial role in driving revenue by developing and executing sales strategies. We are a beautiful full-service resort, www.StJamesBay.com, but we are a small operation with 30 rooms; our GM will need to be hands on working and overseeing all divisions. Our General Manager will be involved in all aspects of the Resort's operations, such as but not limited to:
Developing and implementing strategies for profitability regarding
- Lodging accommodations
- Golf Rounds; Golf & Social Memberships
- Special Event Contracts
- Planning and overseeing marketing programs
- Coordinate capital improvement projects to maintain/upgrade quality standards and property image, and to protect assets from neglect, damage or deterioration.
- Day to Day Activities
- Oversee daily resort operations, ensuring all departments function efficiently and deliver exceptional guest experiences
- Assit with the recruitment, training and supervising of staff across various departments
- Direct the maximization of room revenue by anticipation of market shifts, development, and monitoring of annual business and marketing plans, and participate in appropriate national marketing efforts.
- Oversee budgets, manage costs and ensure that necessary supplies and equipment are procured to keep operations running smoothly
- Conduct regular staff and employee meetings.
- Actively participate in sales presentations, property tours, and customer meetings.
- Develop and maintain rapport with key community contacts to ensure a visible presence in the community.
- Be a leader and a role model to all employees.
- Prioritize exceptions customer service and maintain positive guest relations
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and licensing laws
Special Events
- Oversee the planning and participate in the execution of special events
- Attend events to oversee setup, execution, and breakdown, ensuring all activities align with contractual obligations
- Conduct post-event evaluations to assess success and identify areas for improvement
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years as a General Manager of Resort or Lodging or Event Management
- Bachelor's degree in hospitality or related field is required
- Preferred candidate will have run a golf course with food operations and resort lodging
- An understanding of financial reports, budgeting process, P&L reports etc.
- Excellent planning, organization, and guest services skills
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays six days a week
Work Schedule
- 55 hours per week
- Monday thru Thursday with scheduled day off
- Fridays, Saturdays, Holidays & Special Events
Salary
- $75,000 - $95,000 based on experience + Bonus Opportunities
