Summary: The Service Department Manager forms partnerships with our customers and anticipates their needs. They must be professional, driven, and have a successful management track record. The Service Department Manager is responsible for owner estimates and project management on various refrigeration and piping systems and championing our safety-first culture. They are accountable for maintaining regular contact with customers, building owners, and co-workers to meet our customers’ expectations and build positive rapport with team members. The Service Department Manager is responsible for establishing and managing the refrigeration service technicians within the department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Meet profit margins
- Lead and support refrigeration service technicians
- Identify, sell, and negotiate maintenance agreements
- Manage strategies for customer accounts by learning about their organization, key decision makers, influencers, and the decision-making process
- Prepare and present effective sales proposals to new and existing customers that develop profitable results
- Perform administrative duties to include effective cost and risk management, quality assurance, and timely execution
- Develop new customers through networking and seeking referrals from current customers
- Identify and effectively participate in industry networking opportunities that drive sales and customer retention
- Document and follow up on leads and referrals using the Customer Relations Management (CRM) database per standard procedures
- Promote and facilitate a teamwork mentality
- Follow and document the annual action plan, including but not limited to calls, follow-up appointments, and proposals
- Public relations: resolve concerns and problems; provide information and advice
- Help direct and answer questions from field personnel and/or other coworkers on projects
- Review and evaluate contract compliance
- Attend meetings and submit reports (expense reports, sales reports, working agreements) in a timely manner
- Generate maximum revenue annually while maintaining profitability
- Maintain or exceed Booked Margin per Company standards
- Target, establish, & maintain a targeted number of new, long-term customer relationships annually
- Join and actively participate in industry associations that drive revenue and build loyal customers
- Perform additional tasks as assigned
Relationships:
- Maintain proactive and positive relationships within the JH Kelly team, management, and crafts, including shop and field craft personnel.
- Foster positive relationships with customers, customer representatives, vendors, and suppliers.
Experience / Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the mechanical industry is preferred
Necessary Skills:
- A practical understanding of refrigeration systems, services industry, and customer service
- Proven ability to identify and capture new business
- Desire to service our customers and form partnerships
- Excellent verbal, written, listening, persuasion, and interpersonal skills
- The ability to handle multiple projects
- Ability to interact with customers, field operations, management, and office personnel that fosters constructive and effective relationships
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and in a team atmosphere
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- History of attendance reliability
- Valid license and clean driving record required

Benefits Package:
- Salary: $104,000 - $133,000 (DOE), FLSA Exempt.
