BACKGROUND OF THE APPOINTMENT
This is a remote position/WFH + 70% travel as we look to strengthen our service function and team to ensure that we have the necessary efficiency to service breakdowns and perform preventative annual maintenance for all the reefers in the field and in the depots.
ORGANIZATIONAL PLACEMENT / REFERENCE CRITERIA
The Junior Reefer Technician will report to the Director of North American Operations, who is based out of Georgia. The role will be to work closely with our sales and service teams and will collaborate with some major key accounts across North America. The key focus will be in the West Coast + Gulf Region.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OVERVIEW
Highly motivated and meticulous Refrigeration Technician with at least 5 years’ experience working on refrigerated containers or technical skills. As a Refrigeration Technician you will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and repairing Thermo King MP4000 HVAC units both on site and off site, as required. This position requires a large amount of travel, depending of course on the customer’s need.
SPECIFIC WORK TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Tasks and responsibilities within the role will include, but not be limited to:
→ Carry out activities including the planned and preventative maintenance, defect identification and repair on large scale marine refrigerated containers
→ Installation and commissioning
→ Survey and report documentation
→ Installation of refrigerated containers onsite for operation efficiently and reliably
→ Creating and maintaining a safe working environment and ensuring that risk assessments are completed
→ On-site services and updates for refrigerated fleet
REQUIREMENTS OF THE REEFER TECHNICIAN
→ Electrical fault-finding ability and experience of testing and commissioning
→ F-Gas Qualification
→ Level 2 / 3 in Air-Conditioning and refrigeration or equivalent
→ Competent in brazing refrigeration pipework
→ Mechanical aptitude and sound technician skills
→ At least 5 years previous experience in the refrigeration industry
→ Transport refrigeration knowledge preferable
→ An excellent approach to H&S requirements
→ Flexible to work outside normal business hours at times and overtime if required
→ IT skills and a good working knowledge of Microsoft systems and the ability to produce reports
→ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
→ Adaptable to change and able to work under pressure, if needed
→ Possession of strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
→ Able to manage required commissioning and completion paperwork to a high standard
→ Often the first point of contact to represent the company in a professional manner
→ Attention to detail
→ Full driving license
→ 70-80% travel during peak season
