SUMMARY
Assist in repairs, adjustments and ongoing maintenance of facilities and related equipment. Perform minor electrical and plumbing work, painting, and/or carpentry repairs of fixtures and equipment on company premises. Conduct periodic inspections to determine maintenance work required. Maintain all equipment necessary to perform work. Evaluate requests for repairs. Act as liaison with outside contractors. Responsible for the daily delivery and setup of conference room tables, chairs and audio visual equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist Building Technician II, with repairs to facility structure, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, fire protection, electrical, and HVAC control systems. Includes but not limited to maintenance functions that involve lighting, carpentry, plumbing, painting, inventory stocking and clean-up that may require used of small hand tools
- Provide preventive maintenance for all facility equipment. Utilizes MS Word and/or Excel to maintain preventive maintenance schedules for all equipment. Monitors and records all maintenance and repair activities. Document locations of facilities operating systems and/or equipment locations
- Install, build or modify building furniture as required
- Determines when service calls are needed. Acts as liaison with outside contractors for services related to building maintenance, with supervisor approval. May include but not limited to HVAC, landscape, irrigation systems, extermination, electrical and plumbing
- Assist with the Document Retention program. Respond to and manage requests for pick up/delivery to document retention storage site, and requests to pull documents from retention storage facility
- Controls tools and spare parts needed for repair and maintenance of equipment/systems (hardware, electrical, plumbing supplies, etc.)
- Provide for maintenance and monthly inspection of fire extinguishers, AED Machines and Fire Sprinkler Valves
- Maintenance of all company vehicles including monthly inspections, service maintenance, and DEQ inspection certificates. Vehicles must be cleaned, gassed, and ready to use each day. Review the vehicle checklist when vehicle returned to ensure its readiness for continued use
- Performs other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
- 1-2 years experience with heating, ventilation, air conditioning and other general facilities maintenance and repair skills.
- A high school education or equivalent (or equivalent work experience). Training in the maintenance trades, formal apprenticeship, or on-the-job training preferred: in the areas of mechanical, electrical, electronic, plumbing, pneumatic, hydraulic and HVAC systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Requires knowledge of skilled trades and understanding of electrical, building codes safety rules and regulations
- Able to read building blueprints
- Require knowledge of basic mathematics, handbook formulas and maintenance techniques
- Average computer skills and knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing applications
- Possess good interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Able to utilize and analyze complicated drawing
- Able to manipulate and utilize a variety of hand tools
- Able to instruct others in technical methods for performing repairs and facilities maintenance is helpful
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY
No supervisory responsibilities.
JOB SCOPE
Contacts are with others inside and outside the organization. These internal contacts may include all Columbia Sportswear personnel. External contacts may include equipment service providers, and other vendors and suppliers. Interactions tend to focus on information exchange, providing assistance, or receiving directions. Contacts may include sensitive or confidential information. Must have excellent interpersonal skills. Work on assignments that are moderately complex in nature where judgement is required in resolving problems and making routine recommendations. Will work independently with no instruction on routine work and general instructions on new assignments. Incumbent follows established department practices and procedures. Decisions are made within specific departmental guidelines. Errors in judgment may cause delays in facilities operations.
JOB CONDITIONS
Job may require hours that exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week during peak periods. Some exposure to noisy machines. Will work in every area of building facilities and occasionally outside. Must be able to climb ladders. Must be able to carry out duties involving any or all of the following physical requirements on a regular or interim basis while carrying out essential job functions; moderate lifting, pulling, pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping, crouching, climbing and crawling. Must be able to lift 40lbs repetitively.
