The Regional Sales Manager position supports the API mission through effective management of all activities related to their assigned territory. The key focus of this position is to drive orders and sales growth for API products and services to both new and existing customers. The Regional Sales Manager will lead efforts to achieve region sales targets working with Inside Sales personnel and as well as other functional group leads to ensure we have the marketing campaigns, manufacturing resources, and inventory on hand needed to execute at a high level. The regional team is responsible for pre-qualifying new target accounts, assessing customer needs, recommending inventory purchases, determining pricing, formulating quotes and proposals, and responding to RFQs, technical inquiries, and customer service issues. Frequent travel may be required to fulfill the objectives of this position. New sales goals and other key objectives and expectations for this position are set quarterly/annually.

A typical day:

Achieve Region Sales Targets and support API's overall Sale objectives.
Visit customer sites to deepen relationships, evaluate needs, promote API solutions, and close orders.
Direct daily activities of the Inside Account Managers assigned to the region to maximize sales, maintain industry-leading customer service levels, and achieve the region's business objectives.
Work with other department leads and resources to ensure that API is positioned to maximize business in the assigned region.
Actively participate in the Annual Planning Process used to establish regional sales plans and initiatives.

The ideal candidate requires the following:

Minimum 10 years of external B2B sales experience.
High School Diploma or GED.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Willing to travel between 25% and 33% of the time.
Proven experience with MS Office Suite and CRM.

We highly prefer the following:

Industrial or related trades experience.
Knowledge of pipe, valves, and fittings.
Manufacturing or distribution experience.
Bachelor's degree.
