The Plumbing Instructor will be responsible for all training program functions for the Plumbing training program at the Goodwill Career & Technical Academy. The instructor will provide classroom instruction, preparing students for a career as a skilled plumber.
Role and Responsibilities
- Deliver lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on training sessions in various aspects of plumbing, codes, and blueprint reading, pipefitting, system design, and repair techniques.
- Instruct students on safety protocols, including the proper use of tools and personal protective equipment (PPE) in plumbing.
- Provide students with real-world examples and case studies to illustrate plumbing concepts and applications.
- Supervise and assist students during practical training sessions in the plumbing lab. Demonstrate proper techniques for installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems and fixtures.
- Help develop training materials for use in formal class training; high competency reviewing, discussing and presenting these materials; able to support a number of different learning styles.
- Provide training in policy and procedures in compliance with all local, state and federal rules, regulations and laws.
- Oversee student coordination and scheduling, data collection and ensure diligent documentation; constantly striving to identify opportunity for program efficiency and effectiveness.
- Monitor outcomes of testing; provide proper documentation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Possess high school diploma or GED.
- Extensive experience as a licensed plumber in the residential and/or commercial plumbing industry with in-depth knowledge of plumbing systems, codes and regulations.
- Must be able to pass a background check
- At least (1) year of previous experience teaching in a classroom environment.
- A passion for inspiring students to pursue a career as a plumber.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and talk or hear.
