Trane is seeking an ACES Applications Engineer II to join our team to support our United States customers!
As an ACES Applications Engineer II, you will be a senior level team member of the Centralized Services ACES (Automation & Controls Expert Services) Team. In this role, you will be responsible for traveling to and assisting Trane commercial and independent sales offices at all levels of building automation system design, programming, checkout and commissioning.
This will include validating hardware and software design activities for building automation systems. You will need to apply sound engineering principles and practices for work on assigned projects. You will work directly on multiple project teams to assist the Project Managers and Field Technicians. This role may also be active in assisting with new and existing product and system design, testing and validation.
**Please note that this role will require 75% plus travel. Travel is typically contained within the United States but can include international travel.**

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for design and programming, check out and commissioning activities for direct digital controls, electronic comfort control and automation systems.
- Responsible for design, programming and commissioning of complex building automation systems that require a high level of attention to detail.
- Responsible for review and maintenance of installation and programming standards.
- Acquire and maintain a mastery of Trane Controls products knowledge and offerings along with applicable 3rd party devices as a Subject matter expert in Trane controls.
- Ability to field phone calls for support regarding the field installation per designed drawings.
- Responsible to supervise/ advise and guide Field Technicians, Engineers and sub-contractors.
- Maintains customer satisfaction by working with the customer and internal team to overcome issues as they come up.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in the HVAC industry performing Controls Technician or Controls Engineering roles
- Proficient with operation and design of HVAC Systems, Building Automation Systems, and/or Temperature Controls required
- Previous background in programming, commissioning and startup of Siemens, Johnson Controls, Honeywell or Tridium/Niagara based control systems desired
- 2-year degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Technology, or other related areas preferred
- A valid driver’s license, with no major or frequent traffic violations
- Ability to travel 75% plus
Pay Range: $65,000 - $100,000 yearly*
***Disclaimer: This base salary range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
Additional Requirements and Environmental Exposure:
- Must be able to safely and legally operate a vehicle using a seat belt
- Must be able to wear helmets, safety goggles, fall protection harness and safety boots to safely perform job duties
- Must be able to twist the trunk of your body 90 degrees in each direction
- Must be able to squat and touch the floor with both hands
- Must be able to reach your hands over your head
- Must be able to stand on concrete surfaces for extended periods, routinely up to 4 hours
- This position is highly physical and requires regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, kneeling and climbing ladders. It requires employees to regularly lift and or move up to 10 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 40 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move more than 40 lbs.
- Must be able to safely use a ladder with a 350 lb. total weight limit, while carrying equipment of 50 lbs. or less
- Must be able to maneuver confined access areas, as small as 30” vertical x 45” horizontal
- Must be able to comfortably and routinely access rooftops with extension and/or fixed ladders at heights of 15’ to 20’, and occasionally, up to 50 feet +
- This role may be exposed to variable weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, heights, risk of electrical shock, noisy operating equipment and other variable environmental conditions based on location
