Ellington Mechanical is a fast-growing Mechanical Contractor with locations in Washington, DC and Maryland; we are seeking a highly skilled and seasoned HVAC Service Technician to join our team!
The ideal technician has ample field experience as an upper-level HVAC technician able to perform HVAC equipment startups, troubleshoot, and perform repairs. It is vital that this candidate can use adequately use technology to more efficiently complete work, document project records and progress, and better equip the field team with resources to support project production and quality. In partnership with the full management team, this candidate will be able to perform and lead projects to successful completion.

Responsibilities & Duties
- Perform HVAC equipment startups
- Assist with HVAC equipment changeouts for both commercial and residential applications
- Troubleshoot and diagnose HVAC systems
- Direct field team to efficiently and cost effectively complete work
- Receive incoming service requests and professionally communicate with
- Categorize, assign, and ensure successful completion of service requests and
- Must be able to identify mechanical and electrical malfunctions for HVAC systems
- Guide and advise residential customers to select the best, most appropriate air quality system; advising the customers of preventative maintenance, service agreements, emergency repairs, and warranties
- Efficiently perform emergency repairs
- Willing to be on call, open to performing emergency service calls, flexible to work weekends, evening/night shirts, and/or overtime
- Comply with EMS and OSHA safety standards
- Maintain records and daily logs of all service calls and project progress
- Must complete work to meet local codes and compliances
- Inspect work of other technicians, staff, and subcontractors
- Must be able to use technology to maximize productivity and communication; technology such as Microsoft Office, Project Management Software, Adobe, Service Software, etc.
- Tech must be able to comply with company systems and protocols
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in industry related; willing to continue education in the HVAC field
- Journeyman or master HVAC license holder (preferred)
- Experience working on a variety of applications to include refrigerant, hydronics, electrical sourced systems, and gas systems
- EPA Type 2 Required; Type 3 (preferred)
- Customer service; must be able to communicate effectively with customers
- Able to work well on a team and be a team lead as necessary
- Able to work with little to no supervision
- Able to pass a drug screen and background check
- Able to pass government project access level clearances
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- OSHA 10 and/or OSHA 30 (preferred)

Pay: $80,000.00 - $83,000.00 per year
