Job Summary:
The Service Technician, also known as a Field Service Technician, mainly goes to the customer's location/job site to fix problematic machines or equipment that cannot easily be moved due to size or connections.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Install, trouble shoot, repair and calibrate commercial air conditioning units and refrigeration units.
- Perform preventative maintenance and make recommendations regarding parts changes or system overhaul.
- Safe HVAC handling during compressor and/or major component change out.
- Be assigned to 24 hour on-call emergency duty on a rotating basis per on-call schedule
- Observe additional maintenance needs requiring attention and report those to the appropriate supervisor.
- Report safety concerns to immediate Field, Supervisor, Service Coordinator or Service Manager.
- Installing and testing products, equipment, and machinery and providing instructions to customers on the proper usage of their product.
- Using diagnostic tools to identify issues and evaluating the available information.
- Fixing defective or broken products or ordering the necessary parts to replace faulty or worn-out parts.
- Servicing HVAC equipment, such as heating and ventilation units.
- Servicing heavy equipment.
- Promoting the company's services.
- Maintaining your technical and mechanical skills
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Insurable driving record
- Possess tools needed
- The ability to work independently.
- Managing overtime on service calls with patience and not rushing the job.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- The ability to diagnose and solve problems based on customers' non-technical descriptions.
- Strong working knowledge of equipment and tools used in the industry.
- Physical fitness to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and bend frequently.
Education
- Universal EPA Certification
- Certificate of completion from a HVAC Technical School required
- An associate degree or technical certification in the industry preferred
- High school education or GED required at minimum
- Degree or certificate from HVAC/R technical program or vocational school preferred.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift to 25-50 pounds at times.
- Ability to sit for long periods, stand, walk, climb stairs
- Occasionally climb a ladder, squat and kneel, twist and bend, and work above head and below waist

Pay: $28.00 - $55.00 per hour
