Maintenance Mechanic - Research FRIC
The Florida Research & Innovation Center (FRIC) focuses on basic and translational research related to infectious diseases, inflammatory diseases and cancer. Our research team investigates conditions that disproportionately affect Treasure Coast communities, like lymphomas and insect-transmitted viruses. The FRIC is integrated with Cleveland Clinic's Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Global Center for Pathogen & Human Health Research. We are the primary site of Cleveland Clinic's global vaccine development program, where we work to design and test novel vaccines.
The Maintenance Mechanic maintains operating condition of equipment and buildings and completes simple repairs. A caregiver in this position works from 8:00AM - 5:00PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Monitor and evaluate facility and central energy plant environment for deficiencies, safety hazards, broken equipment, and aesthetic improvements.
- Perform repairs, preventive maintenance, and improvements according to Federal and State codes and standards, local and State building codes, and manufacturer's specifications.
- Maintain clean, orderly, safe work area. Uses proper warning signs and safety equipment to ensure the safety of others.
- Monitor and report abnormal operation of central energy plant equipment.
- Use proper hand or power tools to complete tasks.
- Use personal protective equipment when necessary.
- Wash hands with soap and water to control the spreading of germs within the hospital.
- Routinely pick up work orders in the Plant Operations department and complete them promptly.
- Report to Supervisor or Director any problems or items requiring follow up or for notifying the following shift.
- Respond to emergency situations promptly, taking appropriate action in them.
- Notify the Supervisor or Director when emergencies, deficiencies and safety hazards are identified.
- Assist customers in a professional and courteous manner, cooperates with others.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High school degree or GED
- Three to five years of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic
- Fundamental mechanical ability
- Experience in a healthcare setting
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Electrical, Plumbing or HVAC Mechanic Certification

Physical Requirements:
- Perform work in a stationary position for extended periods
