About the Role
Our client is a prominent mechanical contractor based in Charlotte. We are looking to source a motivated sales professional to join the team as the VP of Sales for their building automation division. Millions are being invested to grow this side of the business and we want you at the ground level!
This is an exciting opportunity to utilize existing business as well as knocking on new doors to build a strong client base. We're looking for a dynamic go-getter with excellent technical knowledge who's ready to spearhead a sales division.
This role offers a lucrative base and commission structure, a 70/30 spilt between existing and new business and market leading benefits.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales Leadership: Spearhead the sales efforts for the building automation division, driving revenue growth and meeting ambitious targets.
- Business Development: Identify and secure new business opportunities by establishing relationships with contractors, consultants, and end-users.
- Client Relationship Management: Manage and grow existing client accounts, ensuring satisfaction and long-term partnerships.
- Team Building and Mentorship: Build and lead a high-performing sales team to support the division's growth. Provide training, guidance, and motivation.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to expand market presence and achieve division objectives.
- Market Analysis: Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to identify opportunities for growth.
- Proposal and Negotiations: Oversee the preparation of proposals, lead contract negotiations, and close high-value deals.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the mechanical/electrical divisions to align sales efforts with broader organizational goals.
- Reporting and Analytics: Track sales performance, prepare regular reports, and provide insights to senior leadership.
- Promoting Innovation: Advocate for and promote advanced building automation solutions to meet client needs and market demand.
Key Qualifications
- Experience: Proven track record in sales leadership, preferably in building automation, mechanical/electrical contracting, or related fields.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of building automation systems (BAS), HVAC controls, and energy solutions.
- Sales Expertise: Demonstrated success in both account management (existing business) and business development (new clients).
- Leadership Skills: Experience in building and managing sales teams with a focus on mentorship and performance.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement innovative sales strategies to drive growth.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Market Knowledge: Familiarity with Cincinnati's market and regional construction/automation industry is a plus.
- Results-Oriented: Motivated, dynamic, and capable of working independently to achieve and exceed goals.
- Software Proficiency: Comfortable using CRM tools and other sales-related software.
