Position Summary
Performs maintenance and repair of HVAC systems in District buildings and facilities. Performs skilled HVAC work
involving the installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of HVAC systems and equipment. Assists in
developing preventative maintenance programs for District buildings. Performs periodic preventive maintenance
inspections of equipment and systems. Estimates time and materials needed for project completion.
Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities
1. Assists with installations, services and repairs non-complex air conditioning and heating systems and
related equipment problems using general knowledge and under moderate supervision.
2. Reads and interprets plans, diagrams, and code requirements, with some latitude for independent
judgement, for proper installation of air conditioning and heating equipment using general knowledge.
3. Assists in aligning pumps, replacing seals, installing electric motors, and repairing valves in hydronic
systems under moderate supervision.
4. Assists in the fabrication, assembly, and installation of ducts under moderate supervision for HVAC
distribution.
5. Assists in servicing and inspecting centrifugal water chillers during annual inspections, changes oil, detects
leaks, megs’ motors, checks and calibrates all controls and logs machine.
6. Assists in maintaining boilers by obtaining carbon dioxide level and temperature of flue gas and assists in
making necessary adjustments with some latitude for independent judgement.
7. Assists in diagnosing heating problems and removing, repairing, and replacing faulty components.
8. Assists in providing water treatment service for condenser and chilled water system and boilers using
general knowledge.
9. Assists in troubleshooting and resolving non-complex issues; escalates moderately complex to complex
and higher scale issues to higher level technician.
10. Inspect and replace filter media as needed while following the Preventative Maintenance Schedule.
11. Maintain accurate and timely work order records
12. Performs other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities
expected for this position.
