Overview: The Chief Engineer directs all aspects of engineering operations including emergency and safety programs, energy management, asset protection, preventive maintenance and repairs to equipment, structures, and grounds. Directs all operations in alignment with local, state, and federal regulations. Ensure optimal levels of quality and hospitality are provided to outside guests, homeowners, tenants, and vendors.

The resort operates 24 hours a day, 7 days week, year-round so operational demands require variations in shift days, starting times, and hours worked in a week. You must be able to work weekends and holidays.
· Conducting walk-throughs and assessing the safe and efficient maintenance and operation so the physical structure of the property, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and any other related equipment.
· Ability to troubleshoot and repair routine mechanical and electrical malfunctions in systems and equipment.
· Maintain the proper use, cleaning, maintenance and storage of all tools and equipment.
· Maintains high standards of personal appearance and grooming which include proper uniform and name tag.
· Ensure that all projects, routing maintenance, repairs, replacement, and capital improvement projects are completed in a timely fashion and according to applicable code and company standards.
· Handles guestroom maintenance requests in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and timely manner.
· Coordinate all inspections of the fire safety systems including extinguishers, smoke alarms, etc. to maintain proper safety standards.
· Assess critical situations (fire, natural disasters, major mechanical malfunctions, etc.) and facilitate an immediate and appropriate response.
· Ensure all pools, spas, lazy-river, children’s water attraction have established procedures for maintenance, safety and health and sanitation procedures, including proper chemical handling and application procedures, cleaning filters, and keeping required logs.
· Management of the day-to-day operations of the engineering staff, ground staff, pool cleaners/CPO; including hiring, firing, training, scheduling, and time management; sub-contractors, and third-party vendors.
· Daily activities will involve the ability to effectively deal with managers, team members, homeowners, third-party vendors, and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger, resolve conflicts and collect accurate information. A professional approach to work is essential.
· Capable of anticipating customer needs, changing goals and direction quickly and multitask.
· Assigns and verifies completion of all routine and preventive maintenance on public spaces, meeting rooms, guest rooms, outlets, back of the house spaces and grounds, limiting disruption to guests and homeowners.
· Maintain knowledge of current OSHA and safety standards and ensure all safety and emergency procedures are communicated.
Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, team members are regularly required to stand, walk, and/or sit and continuously perform essential job functions for duration of shift. Must be able to reach, balance, bend, kneel, crawl, and climb on all types of surfaces. The ability to lift, pull, push, and move objects up to 100 pounds with frequent twisting, bending, stooping, and reaching. Grasping, lifting, and holding tools and having good finger dexterity is required. Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations. Must be able to work in various weather conditions, including sun, extreme cold and heat, wind, and rain.
Qualifications: Previous position as Chief or Assistant Chief Engineer with Hospitality experience; is preferred. Minimum five years of experience in maintenance, including specialty fields. Candidate must have working knowledge of methods and materials used in general building maintenance, carpentry, painting, plumbing, landscaping, building and electrical units, HVAC, and pool operation and maintenance. Certifications in mechanical, plumbing, HVAC and CPO are a plus. Basic computer skills are required to include processing emails, and familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace. Supervisory experience is required and must have a valid driver’s license for the applicable state.
