Len the Plumber Heating & Air is seeking a highly motivated and experienced HVAC Install Manager to lead and manage our team of residential HVAC Install Technicians. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of driving team performance, maintaining high-quality installation standards, and ensuring customer satisfaction. This position is instrumental in ensuring the success of our HVAC installation operations by optimizing processes, training staff, and achieving departmental goals.
Key Responsibilities
As the HVAC Install Manager, your duties will include:
Team Leadership & Development
- Supervise, coach, and mentor a team of HVAC Install Technicians to deliver top-quality work and exceptional customer service.
- Conduct regular field visits and one-on-one sessions to train and engage Install Technicians.
- Lead team meetings to discuss productivity, customer satisfaction, and training opportunities.
- Develop individual training plans to address specific technical proficiencies and growth needs.
- Recruit, hire, and onboard qualified Install Technicians using traditional and referral-based methods.
Operational Management
- Collaborate with the HVAC Branch Manager to implement business strategies and meet departmental goals.
- Schedule and assign installations, matching jobs to technician skill levels and availability.
- Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly performance metrics, including revenue forecasting, gross margin targets, and productivity KPIs.
- Manage payroll processes and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Partner with the operations team to maintain appropriate inventory levels and ensure timely equipment and material availability.
- Coordinate all aspects of installations, including permits, equipment rentals, and subcontracted labor.
- Monitor truck inventories, cleanliness, and compliance with company standards.
Installation Oversight
- Review upcoming installation schedules and prepare materials, equipment, and resources for each project.
- Ensure proper installation, startup, and commissioning of all residential HVAC equipment.
- Conduct post-installation quality assurance inspections to confirm customer satisfaction and adherence to company standards.
- Address and resolve any customer issues promptly and professionally.
Process Improvement
- Drive departmental performance by analyzing key metrics and identifying areas for improvement.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Leverage digital tools like Service Titan to track and improve installation accuracy and technician performance.
Collaboration & Reporting
- Work closely with sales representatives, install coordinators, and the accounting team to streamline operations.
- Attend daily and weekly meetings to communicate team progress, identify opportunities, and align with branch objectives.
Qualifications
We’re looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:
- Minimum 5 years of residential HVAC installation experience, with a strong background in diagnostic troubleshooting and service repair.
- Proven management experience in the service industry, with demonstrated success in team leadership and development.
- Master MD HVAC license preferred but not required.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and business acumen skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with digital tools like Service Titan.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Working Conditions
- Primarily office-based with frequent field visits.
- Must be able to lift and transport up to 50 lbs.
- Occasional travel to training sessions or other locations may be required.
