Summary
Electricians perform skilled work at the journeyman level in the installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, equipment and fixtures. Electricians do skilled work in accordance with standard practices of the electrical trade. Work is usually assigned by foremen or other technical superiors and is ordinarily checked by the satisfactory performance of the equipment installed, repaired, or maintained.
Responsibilities
- Maintains and repairs sterilizes, heaters, fans, floor' scrubbers, circulating pumps, kitchen machinery and equipment, electrical motors and generators, laundry machinery and equipment, and other electrical equipment throughout various hospital operations.
- Installs, repairs, and replaces electrical conduit, electrical wire, transformers, switches, electrical panels, and other electrical equipment for buildings, security, and area lighting.
- Repairs motors, flasher units, time clocks, relays, switches, control boxes, fuse boxes and nurse call systems.
- Locates and corrects power failures and motor trouble on electrically operated machinery, apparatus, and systems.
- Reads and interprets sketches, blueprints and electrical diagrams, and makes layouts as needed.
- Observes established safety practices and procedures applicable to the electrical trade.
- Performs electrical work on refrigeration equipment; repairs, reconditions, modifies, replaces and installs equipment to refrigerate air and water.
- Repairs time clocks, time stamps, and master clock systems.
- Trouble shoots equipment and system problems through schematics, wiring diagrams, and standard electrical procedures.
- Maintains, repairs and operates generators, transfer switches, oil switches, line and isolation transformers, and electrical distribution systems.
- Responsible for high and low voltage applications and occasionally is required to work on live circuits.
- Maintains and repairs fire alarm systems, patient beds, and surgical lighting.
- Observes established safety practices and procedures.

- Performs all other related job duties as assigned.
Experience
Generally requires 3 to 5 years of related experience.
Education
High School diploma is strongly preferred.
Credentials
Valid journeymen level license is required.
