Who You Are:
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) plays a pivotal role in delivering operational excellence and ensuring exceptional guest experience through outstanding hospitality and service. The AGM collaborates with the General Manager (GM), Sous Chef, Director of Special Events, Private Events Manager, and Ownership to set and exceed business goals. By aligning with the mission, vision, and core values of The Edison Restaurant, the AGM ensures the success of the team and the satisfaction of all stakeholders, particularly private event clients.
A successful AGM demonstrates strong leadership, a friendly yet competitive spirit, and a passion for hospitality, team building, and creating memorable experiences.
What You’ll Do:
The AGM leads the team to achieve operational excellence, foster a positive work environment, and deliver exceptional hospitality. Key responsibilities include:
- Hospitality Leadership: Guide the team in creating consistent, memorable guest experiences with a focus on warmth and excellence in service.
- Private Event Management: Take primary responsibility for the success of private events by ensuring client satisfaction, responding to feedback, and cultivating a loyal customer base.
- Service Excellence: Oversee seamless food execution and timely service by managing team performance and operational flow.
- Team Training: Act as the chief trainer for Front of House staff, educating the team on service standards, wine knowledge, and menu expertise to build confidence and expertise.
- Collaboration: Promote clear communication and alignment between the front-of-house and kitchen teams to achieve shared goals.
- Team Development: Provide feedback, coaching, and guidance to foster team growth and career development.
- Recruitment and Retention: Identify and attract talent to grow the team, with a focus on diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
- Operational Oversight: Partner with the GM to manage daily operations and administrative tasks, balancing short-term priorities with long-term business objectives.
- Process Improvement: Work with the GM and Sous Chef to refine systems and processes for greater efficiency and role clarity.
- Problem-Solving: Address challenges with sound judgment, ensuring effective solutions and long-term stability.
- Additional Duties: Take on other responsibilities as needed to support the team and ensure the restaurant’s success.

What We Need From You:
- Experience: At least 3 years of management experience in a high-volume restaurant.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, with hands-on expertise in restaurant scheduling, training, inventory management, and purchasing.
- Physical Stamina: The ability to stand and walk for extended periods while maintaining focus and energy.
- Operational Excellence: A proven ability to execute consistently at a high level while refining systems to improve quality and efficiency.
- Leadership: A track record of team development in high-volume operations, with a focus on hospitality and private event management.
- Commitment to Excellence: Demonstrated success in elevating performance across food, beverage, and service.
