JOB SUMMARY: Through classroom and on-the-job training (OJT), learns and applies fundamentals HVAC trade.

REQUIREMENTS:

Able to work Monday-Friday with occasional evenings and weekends as needed. Must be flexible with schedule.
Reliable transportation, be able to go to job sites in DC, VA and MD as assigned/needed.
Perform arithmetic calculations (add/subtract/multiply/divide, including fractions and decimals)
0-1 years of prior experience as a laborer, skilled laborer, helper, or in another related trade.
Completion of high school diploma or GED strongly preferred.
Satisfactory background check and initial/random drug tests.
Dependable, reliable and on time
Works well with team, including other trades.
Inquisitive: wants to learn; asks questions.
Communicates effectively in English.
Acquire the personal tools required at your current level in the Apprenticeship Program
Learn the safe and proper use of all tools
Become EPA Section 608 Certified
Able to lift five to seventy five pounds (5-75lbs), with or without assistance, frequently.
Able to sit, stand, bend, walk, climb, and remain in static positions for duration of shift. Able to withstand exposure to heights, tight/confined spaces; work in dusty areas; work in temperature extremes; be exposed to external elements (wind, rain, snow, etc).
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Attend apprentice classes in trade and maintains OJT logs; works under supervision of journeyman-level tradesperson to assemble/complete work.
Learn to read blue prints and CAD drawings, as well as specifications.
Learn appropriate HVAC code to install, as well as fundamentals of HVAC.
Learn how to cut and thread up to 2" pipe; sweat and solder pipe; tack-weld steel pipe; cut steel pipe with torch; learn fitting techniques.
Learn proper refrigerant piping practices for all types of equipment
Learn the fundamentals of electricity and control wiring
Assist in rigging and properly setting equipment
Maintain a professional appearance and attitude, and work effectively with co-workers and other subs.
Other duties requested by Supervisor.
