Denver International Airport’s HVAC Department is looking for an HVAC Apprentice to work alongside our highly skilled and world-class trades professionals. This team is responsible for all the comfort needs of our airport guests and tenants. Our team works on various issues, from day-to-day preventative maintenance to emergency response repair in various environments.

Location and Schedule
- On site at Denver International Airport (parking is provided)
- Shifts: Schedule: This is a full time position, working the day shift, Mon-Friday.
- Denver International Airport is a 24/7/365 team operation. If staffing challenges occur, weather conditions warrant or an emergency crisis occurs, all DEN employees will be required to work extended hours and/or alternative shifts (includes nights, weekends, and holidays)
- Participates in mandatory snow removal duties
- Shifts are not guaranteed and are subject to change
What You’ll Do

Key responsibilities will include:
- Assist in installing HVAC Systems: Support HVAC professionals in installing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment, including ductwork, piping, and wiring.
- Perform Routine Inspections: Under the supervision of a senior technician, assist with routine inspections of HVAC systems to ensure efficient operation, identify potential issues, and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain Tools and Equipment: Ensure proper care, maintenance, and inventory of HVAC tools, supplies, and equipment to support job efficiency and longevity.
- Record Keeping and Documentation: Accurately document service tasks, maintenance records, and any changes to equipment or system configurations using work order management software.
- Assist with System Diagnostics: Learn to diagnose HVAC system malfunctions using tools such as pressure gauges, electrical meters, and refrigerant testing devices under the guidance of experienced technicians.
- Support Energy Efficiency Initiatives: Help implement energy-saving upgrades or modifications to HVAC systems, such as retrofitting outdated components with more efficient technologies.
- Comply with Environmental Regulations: Learn and adhere to environmental safety protocols, such as proper refrigerant handling, recovery, and recycling, in compliance with EPA regulations.
- Participate in Safety Training: Regularly attend safety meetings and training sessions to stay informed of the HVAC field's new procedures and safety standards.
- Collaborate with Other Departments: Work with other airport maintenance and operations teams, such as electrical or plumbing departments, to ensure efficient and coordinated support for airport infrastructure.
- Shadow Senior Technicians for Skill Development: Continuously seek opportunities to shadow experienced HVAC professionals to gain practical insights into complex systems and advanced repair techniques.
- Assist with HVAC System Testing: Use various diagnostic equipment to help conduct tests on HVAC systems to ensure they are functioning correctly after installation or repairs.
- Learn About Building Codes and Compliance: Understand and apply local building codes, airport regulations, and compliance standards during HVAC-related work.

Required Minimum Qualifications

- Education: Graduation from high school or possession of a GED Certificate
- Experience: One (1) year of experience performing a variety of duties in construction, mechanical, or facility maintenance
- Licensures/Certification(s): This job requires driving. A valid driver's license is required at the time of application. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment
- Equivalency: A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements
