COMPANY OVERVIEW
· SpectronRx is a growing Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) based in Indianapolis, Indiana, with additional locations currently in South Bend, IN and new locations planned for Bunker Hill, IN, Danbury, CT and a yet to be determined west coast site. We are seeking an experienced Radiation Safety Technician to join our growing company. The Radiation Safety Technician is responsible for the enforcement of Spectron Radiation Safety Program as well as general surveillance over all activities involving radioactive material. This position has the authority to stop operations that he/she considers unsafe, ensures that radioactive materials are possessed and used in a safe manner, and ensures that all activities that involve the use of licensed material are done according to company policies and procedures and regulatory requirements. The Radiation Safety Technician ensures compliance with NRC or other applicable radiation safety regulations as well as the conditions of the NRC or applicable state license.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· This person will be required to be proactive in determining growth and oversight of Radiation Safety.
· Surveillance over all radioactive material, including routine monitoring, special surveys, and responding to events.
· Train and enforce all DOT procedures and requirements.
· Perform audits and provide timely responses (internal & external).
· Proper filing of health physics.
· Monitor performance of fume hoods that are associated with isotope work.
· Serve as a primary source of radiation protection information for personnel at all levels of responsibility.
· Oversee the preparation of all shipments of radioactive material leaving the nuclear pharmacy and/or manufacturing facility.
· Oversee the receipt, opening and delivery of all shipments of radioactive material arriving at the nuclear pharmacy and/or manufacturing facility.
· Oversee the distribution and processing of personnel monitoring equipment.
· Conduct training programs in proper procedures for the use of radioactive material.
· Oversee and coordinate the radioactive waste disposal program.
· Oversee the safe storage of all radioactive materials not in current use.
· Ensure that sealed sources are leak-tested at proper intervals.
· Maintain an inventory of all radioactive materials and limiting the quantity of radionuclides at the facility to the amounts authorized by the license.
· Review license procedures and controls based upon sound radiation protection principles, to ensure that occupational doses and doses to members of the public are as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA).
· Use administrative controls to avoid mistakes in the administration of by product material.
· Use procedures to prevent or minimize contamination and use proper decontamination procedures.
· Maintain and oversee all radioactive tasks as related to pharmacy.
· Responsible for the safety and training of all employees.
· Maintains supervision for facility/operations during assigned shift.
· Required to maintain Radiation Safety Officer training and Authorized User Training to maintain status.

TRAVEL
· Travel to SpectronRx sites is required.
· Travel requirement is 25% or as required by executive management.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
· Trained in basic radioisotope handling techniques
· Five years of experience monitoring radiation safety at a nuclear pharmacy or medical institution under the supervision of the individual identified as RSO on either a commercial nuclear pharmacy OR authorized user status on another RAM license.
· License or a Commission or Agreement State license that authorizes the medical use of by-product material
· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
· Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
· Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
· Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
