Must meet all requirements of mechanic. Performs preventative maintenance, normal maintenance, and emergency and normal repairs on plant equipment and utilities and facilities as required or needed. Fabricate and install various pieces of equipment and rebuild equipment as necessary. Perform pipe fitting, plumbing, electrical, electronic, installations and repairs with other mechanics. Performs all tasks in a safe and efficient manner. Ensure quality product is produced and continuous improvement. This position also has accountability for Q-RMP standards as outlined in the Claussen Woodstock Accountability document.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- General knowledge of maintenance safety programs and standards.
- Able to read, interpret, and understand applicable hydraulic blueprints and schematics.
- Able to troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, and steam systems.
- Able to set up and operate equipment related to job function.
- Perform maintenance checks on equipment and facilities; Troubleshoot problems and repair facility equipment such as HVAC and associated equipment.
- Perform maintenance on ammonia systems and follow Kraft Heinz policies outlined in PSM program.
- Perform plumbing repairs throughout the plant.
- Able to repair and perform preventative maintenance to compressors and associated pneumatic systems.
- Perform operational preventative maintenance set by operational standards associated with Kraft policies.
- Able to perform water testing for Cooling towers and associated water treatment systems.
- Responsible for maintaining operator logs with ammonia operations and PSM program.
- Prepare various reports and paperwork.
- Able to take initiative and work independently to accomplish position objectives.
- Responsible for keeping work area clean and free of unneeded materials.
- Able to work any scheduled overtime as needed.
- Able to function efficiently in a team environment.
- Perform an emergency stop as vital; Follow all “Lock Out/Tag Out” procedures and policies.
- Report all safety concerns and potential hazards to a supervisor/team lead.
- All other duties assigned by supervisor.
- Apply SAP to supervise and maintain orders and time worked.
- Accountable for the QRMP (Quality Risk Management Process) standards as outlined in the plant’s QRMP accountability document, including the implementation, improvement and ongoing maintenance.
- Support all departments / CI / Production / Distribution / Sanitation.
Expected Experience & Required Skills:
- Lift minimum of 50 pounds.
- Constant bending and twisting; Able to reach above shoulders.
- Able to climb ladders, stoop, kneel, and crouch occasionally.
- Must have good verbal communication and basic mathematical skills.
- Certified to operate a hand truck.
- Must maintain appropriate tools and toolbox.
- Work in areas that contain dust and starch particles.
- Work in hot and humid conditions.
- Able to become certified in man-lifts.
- Use simple mathematics periodically.
Work Environment & Schedule:
This position is considered a Manufacturing plant environment with heavy machinery and equipment. Overtime and weekend work required as dictated by business needs. You may be required to switch schedules or shifts as the need arises. Must wear the following PPE (Personal Protective Equipment): bump cap/hard hat, safety glasses, slip resistant shoes, ear plugs.
Physical Requirements:
Physical demands include but not limited to:
- Frequent standing and walking required.
- Physical requirements include strength to install motors - pumps and correct use of tools. 60% of work will be production related in overseeing and repair. 30% assist other mechanics on various repairs. 5% trouble shooting or problem solving. 5% miscellaneous welding, machining, and drilling.
- Intermittent heavy exertion (lifting, hauling, pushing, carrying, pulling, walking, climbing, etc.) High degree of concentration on production machinery and line flow. 30% simple problem solving. 100% on safety.
- Continual application of reasoning, logic, and common sense. Attention span and temperament must allow individual to work on problems until solved. 75% high degree of visual inspection required to aid in trouble shooting and preventive maintenance on all production equipment.
- Color vision required.
- Ability to read from 1/32” to 8” high.
- Close up visual acuity necessary.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Employees will receive on-the-job training. Employees will also be responsible for attending and participating in the requested training for ammonia operators and must be able to conform to standards outlined in Process Safety Management (PSM) associated with ammonia equipment and controls. Associates degree or equivalent in a maintenance-related field or a minimum of three (3) years manufacturing maintenance experience required. Also, employees must pass appropriate testing and Targeted Selection Interview process before being offered the position.
