Overview: The HVAC technician is responsible for the overall maintenance of the HVAC systems, and assigned additional equipment in use at the hospital. These items include, but are not limited to periodic maintenance, repair, and troubleshoot of air handler unit, rooftop units, split systems, fan coil units, fire dampers, ice machines, pumps, motors, fan assemblies, unit heaters, refrigerators, freezers, air curtain units, overhead door fans, filtration units, filters, VAV boxes and ductwork, etc. Knowledgeable of equipment that serves operating rooms, positive and negative pressure rooms. Reads and interprets construction blueprints/drawings used in troubleshooting these systems and equipment. Operates vacuum pumps, manifold gauges pro-press machines, air flow hoods, belt alignment tools, and digital volt/amp meters. Knowledgeable of the operation of a BAS (Building Automation system) and how it can be used for daily operations, history, and troubleshooting. The HVAC technician logs daily production/work performed in a work order system tracking time, equipment repairs, and parts through the use of computer or device such as an I-Pad.
