POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Journeyman Electrician will review all electrical assembly operations on the shop floor, interfacing directly with shop electrical assembly team members, the production supervisor, and operations manager as well as the various project managers, project engineers and the sales team.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Review work performed by electrical assembly department on shop floor.
Test electrical systems using tools that include but not limited to voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and ohmmeters to determine where issues may be occurring
Document actions, testing results, observations, final diagnosis of the situation and the steps taken to resolve issues for each job or situation.
Ensure compliance with the National Electric Code, (NEC) as well as specific job requirements.
Install, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical systems on new or existing equipment.
Responsible for executing instructions per the Production Supervisor.
Assists in enforcing standards and complying with regulations.
Reports defective material or questionable conditions to the department supervisor
Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations by adhering to all company guidelines and OSHA safety requirements.
Report all violations of safety policies to immediate supervisor
Complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedule with minimum supervision.
Complete and record documentation as required by specific jobs
JOB SKILLS:
Following established methods and procedures
Use and be familiar with assembly and measuring tools, interpret visual aids and must be able to perform simple shop math.
Ability to read blueprints and pipe and instrumentation drawing
Ability to operate a forklift, overhead crane, and man lift
Ability to communicate affectively
Ability to work autonomously in a fast paced, often changing environment.
Ability to multi-task over several projects and manage conflicting priorities.
Experience with analysis of compliance with NEC, IEC, NFPA, IEEE and other local and international codes.
EDUCATION & TRAINING:
High School diploma or GED
Current Journeyman Electrician’s License or Master Electrician’s License
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in the installation of industrial electric wiring, instrumentation, VFDs, MCCs, controls control valves in a shop fabrication facility.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in controls wiring
Minimum of 3 years as a current, license registered journeyman electrician with the state
Strong Knowledge of industry codes and standards: NEC, IEC, UBC, IBC, etc.
Strong knowledge of industry "best practices" relating to electrical power distribution systems.
Strong Leadership skills
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, one-line diagrams and wiring diagrams and assist in the checking procedure for the same.
Basic computer skills
ISO-9000, LEAN and/or Six Sigma background with ability to develop processes and procedures for electrical work
Familiarity with various testing practices such as Loop Tests, Point to Point Tests, Function Tests, etc.
Must have a good command of the English language, both written and verbal
Previous experience in a fast-paced, manufacturing environment
