Job Description:
We are currently seeking applications for Apprentice Electricians at all experience levels. In this position, you will work closely with Journeyman Electricians, assisting in installation, alterations, and maintenance tasks to ensure the efficient operation of various electrical equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist electricians with installation tasks under direct supervision.
- Maintain materials, tools, and equipment in an orderly fashion.
- Demonstrate safe work habits and proper care of tools and equipment.
- Produce quality work that meets or exceeds National Electrical Code requirements.
- Attend required training classes to enhance skills and knowledge.
Basic Requirements:
- Apprentice License: Must possess an active Texas Apprentice License issued by TDLR.
- Licenses/ID: Current Driver’s License and/or State ID required.
- Tools: Must have basic hand tools of the trade.
Minimum Skills by Rating:
A1 – Basic Skills Required:
- Ability to positively identify colors of wires.
- Perform a 90-degree conduit bend using hand benders.
- Proficiency in using power tools, saws, threaders, and knockout punches.
- Operation of two-handed tools/equipment, cable cutters, hammer drills, and compression tools.
- Capable of trench digging using hand tools or power equipment.
- Conduct wire pulls.
- Interpret maps, instructional manuals, specifications, work site directions, and written instructions.
A2 – Intermediate Skills:
- Perform Off-Set conduit bends with hand benders.
- Identify and explain markings on hand bender head.
- Knowledgeable in wire pulling procedures.
- Familiarity with tools and materials.
- Conduct wall rough-ins and fixture rough-ins.
- Identify correct Cap/Connector for corresponding wire gauge.
- Work from mechanical personnel lifts.
A3 – Advanced Skills:
- Perform 3 Point Saddle and Back-to-Back conduit bends with hand benders.
- Terminate junction boxes and install conduit Branch.
- Conduct fixture connections and underground rough-ins.
- Operate equipment such as trenchers, backhoes, wire tuggers, hydraulic benders, and lift trucks safely.
- Interpret blueprints, prints, and schematics.
- Operate mechanical personnel lifts (electric or gas-powered).
A4 – Proficient Skills:
- Perform 4 Point Saddle and Kick conduit bends with hand benders.
- Basic understanding of blueprints and layout from field sketches.
- Conduct panel terminations, size conduit and boxes, and underground layout and rough-in.
TE – Advanced Proficiency:
- Layout work and prepare materials for installations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve problems in electrical circuits, systems, and equipment.
- Conduct underground layout and rough-ins, determine wire and conduit sizing.
- Install buss feeders and perform switchgear installation and terminations.
